2 GENERAL INFORMATION GENERAL INFORMATION This co ee machine is suitable for preparing espresso co ee using co ee beans and is equipped with a device to dispense steam and hot wat er. The machine is designed for domestic use and not suitable for heavy or professional use.

4 1 4 7 5 6 3 2 8 STARTING THE MACHINE Before turning on the machine, mak e sure that the power butt on is set to "0" . Lift the right outer lid and r emove the inner lid. Remove the w ater tank using the handle. Press the pow er button to the "I" position to turn the machine on.
5 5 1 2 12 3 4 A B C Select the desired language by pressing the arrow butt ons ( ) or ( ). Press the sa ve button. The machine activates the w arming up phase. W ait until it is completed. When warm-up phase is complet e, the machine performs a rinsing c ycle of the internal cir cuits.
6 9 1 5 7 3 INSTALLATION FIRST USE - USE AFTER A PERIOD OF INACTIVITY T o improve the pr oduc t quality , carr y out this procedur e at rst use of the machine and after long periods of inactivity. A few simple operations are needed t o ensure the quality of your favourit e beverages over time .
7 1 4 5 3 2 INTENZA WATER FILTER T o improve the quality of the wat er you use and extend the life of your machine at the same time , it is recommended that you install the water lter . After installation, go t o the water lter initialization progr amme (see the "MACHINE MENU" , page 25).
8 2 ADJUSTMENTS COFFEE STRENGTH (SBS) The SBS dial has been carefully designed t o give your co ee the fullness and intensity you desire. Simply turn the dial and se t the co ee from mild int ensit y to strong in tensity, ac cording to your o wn taste.

10 1 2 3 4 DISPENSING SPOUT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT Before brewing a pr oduc t, and acc ording to the kind of cup , adjust the height of the dispensing spout. T o adjust, manually move the dispensing spout as shown in the picture . Note: In some cases the dispensing spout can be removed to allow the use of very large containers.
11 STAND-BY MODE The machine is designed for energy sa ving. After 60 minut es of inac tivity , the machine goes into stand-by mode, the boiler is no longer heated and all the devices turn o . Po wer consumption is reduced t o a minimum. Press any button to turn the machine on again.
12 I II 1 2 3 4 5 6 The machine is equipped with a carafe allowing for optimal milk fr othing for the brewing of tasty cappuccinos, latte mac chiatos and any milk-based bev erage. Note: Before using the carafe, make sure it is thoroughly clean and sanitary .

W e recommend NO T to keep the container at r oom temperatur e for too long. Maximum 10 minutes . Store the milk acc ording to producer's instructions and do NO T use it after best-before date .
14 1 2 ESPRESSO / LONG COFFEE This proc edure shows how to br ew an espresso . T o brew another type of co ee, press the appropriat e button. Use proper co ee c ups to preven t co ee from spilling.
15 1 3 5 BEVERAGE BREWING WITH PRE-GROUND COFFEE The machine allows y ou to use pre-ground and deca einated co ee. Pre-ground co ee must be poured into the b ypass doser positioned on the top of the machine.

Upon completion of the cleaning cycle remov e the milk carafe and put it in the refrigera tor . W ait a few seconds. The machine starts the automatic cleaning process (if enabled - see page 31).
18 1 3 2 HOT WATER Repeat the proc edure to dispense a new quantity of hot water . After dispensing , some water alwa ys remains in the lines and this may result in leaking . 24 MILK QUANTITY W A TER QUANTITY MILK FO AM This section allows you to pr ogram the quantity of milk for each selected beverage. The buttons ( ) or ( ) allow to determine e xac tly the quantity of milk to be dispensed. The strip on the display shows the estimat ed value of this parameter .

T he machine per forms this function only if the power button is switched to on. It is possible to set 3 di erent pow er- on times, which can be managed independently .
30 W A TER MENU HARDNESS ENABLE FIL TER ACTIV A TE FIL TER This menu allows setting corr ect water parameters for bev erages dispensing. T o change the machine water hardness setting . The "W ater Har dness" func tion allows adjusting the machine to the lev el of hardness of the wa ter used.
31 F ACT ORY SETTINGS This function allows you to r estore all factory settings. Note: By restoring the factory settings, all the personal parameters are lost.

33 Select the menu option. Press the "OK" button t o con rm. Pour the en tire content of the Saeco concentra ted descaling solution into the water tank, and then ll the tank with fresh wa ter up to the MAX level . Then, press the "OK" butt on.

38 1 6 2 3 4 5 MAINTENANCE DURING OPERATION During normal operation, the following messages may appear: "EMPTY COFFEE GROUNDS DRA WER" and/or "EMPT Y DRIP TRA Y" . This operation must be performed when the machine is on. Press the butt on and open the ser vice door .
