8 ENGLISH PREP ARING FOR USE Machine packaging The original packaging has been designed and constructed to protect the machine during transport. W e recommend keeping the pack aging material for possible future transport. Machine installation 1 Remove the drip tray with g rill from the packaging.
9 ENGLISH 9 5 Open the lid and remove the wat er tank by the handle. 6 Rinse the water tank under fresh water . 7 Fill the tank with fr esh water up to the MA X level and re-inser t it into the machine.
10 ENGLISH 10 Inser t the plug into the socket located on the back of the machine . 11 Inser t the plug on the other end of the power c ord into a wall socket with suitable power voltage . 12 Switch the pow er button to “I” to turn on the machine.
11 ENGLISH 11 USING THE MACHINE FOR THE FIRST TIME Automatic rinse/self-cleaning cycle When warm-up is completed, the machine automatically performs a rinse/ self-cleaning c ycle of the internal cir cuit with fresh water . This takes less than a minute.
12 ENGLISH 2 Select the pre -ground co ee brewing function by pressing the “ ” button. The machine shows this icon “ ”. 3 Press the “ ” button. 4 Press the “ ” button. The machine star ts dispensing water . Note: Do not add pre- ground c o ee into the compartment.
13 ENGLISH 13 8 Once the water has been dispensed, r emove and empty the container . 9 Repeat the process from st ep 5 to step 8 until the water tank is empty . Then, continue with step 10. 10 At the end, ll the water tank again up to the MA X level.
14 ENGLISH 3 Check how many squar es have changed the colour to r ed and then consult the table. Note: The numbers on the water hardness test strip c orrespond to the water hardness adjustment settings.
15 ENGLISH 15 “INTENZA+” water lter installation W e recommend you to install the “INTENZA+” water lter as this prevents lime scale to build up in your machine and preserves a more intense ar oma to your espresso c o ee . Y ou can purchase separately the INTENZA+ water lter .
16 ENGLISH 5 Fill the wat er tank up to the MAX lev el with fresh water and reinsert it into the machine. 6 Place a large container (1,5 lt) under the hot water / st eam wand. 7 Press the “ ” button to access the machine main menu. 8 Press the “ ” button to scr oll down the pages.
17 ENGLISH 17 12 Press the “ ” button to con rm that you have inserted the water lter and lled the water tank . 13 Press the “ ” button to con rm that a container is placed under the water spout. 14 The machine starts dispensing water .
18 ENGLISH ADJUSTMENTS The machine allows f or certain adjustments so that you can brew the best tasting co ee possible. Saeco Adapting S ystem Co ee is a natural pr oduct and its characteristics may change according to its origin, blend and roast.
19 ENGLISH 19 2 Press and turn the g rinder adjustment knob one notch at a time. Y ou will taste the di erence after brewing 2-3 cups of espr esso. 3 The ref erence marks on the co ee bean hopper lid indicate the grind setting.
20 ENGLISH Adjusting the dispensing spout The height of the dispensing spout can be adjusted to better t the dimensions of the cups that you wish to use. Move the dispensing spout up or down with your ngers to adjust its height as shown in the image.
21 ENGLISH 21 The recommended positions ar e: F or the use of small cups; F or the use of large cups; F or the use of latte macchiato cups. Note: The dispensing spout can also be remov ed to allow the use of very large containers. T wo cups can be placed under the dispensing spout to br ew two cups of co ee at the same time.
22 ENGLISH Adjusting the co ee length The machine allows y ou to adjust the amount of brewed co ee or milk according to y our taste and the size of your cups . Each time one of the buttons “ ” “ ” “ ” and “ ” is pressed, the machine br ews a pre-set amount of product.
23 ENGLISH 23 ESPRESSO , C OFFEE AND L ONG COFFEE BREWING Before br ewing co ee, make sure that ther e are no warnings shown on the display , and that the water tank and co ee bean hopper are lled. Espresso , co ee and long co ee brewing using co ee beans 1 Place 1 or 2 cups under the dispensing spout.
24 ENGLISH Espresso , co ee and long co ee brewing using pre-ground co ee This function allows to use pre-ground and deca einated co ee. With the pre-ground co ee function you can only brew one co ee at a time. 1 T o select the pre -ground co ee function, press the “ ” button until this icon “ ” is display ed.
25 ENGLISH 25 4 This page will be displayed . 6 Press “ ” to con rm and start brewing. 7 After the pre-brewing cycle, co ee begins to pour out of the dispen- sing spout. 8 Co ee br ewing stops automatically when the pre-programmed level is reached; it is possible to stop earlier b y pressing the “ ” button.
26 ENGLISH MILK CARAFE This chapter explains how to use a milk caraf e to prepare a cappuc cino, latte macchiato or hot milk. Note: Before using the milk caraf e, clean it thoroughly as described in the chap- ter “ Cleaning and Maintenance” chapter .
27 ENGLISH 27 4 Place back the lid and close the milk carafe dispenser by turning it counter clockwise. The milk carafe is now r eady to use. Inserting the milk carafe 1 Slightly tilt the milk carafe and then insert the front part into the ma- chine. C D A B B 2 At this stage the carafe holes ( A) are low er than the couplings (C).
28 ENGLISH 3 Push the carafe t owards the bottom while r otating at the same time, until it is locked at the (external) drip tray (E). Caution: Do not use force while inserting the caraf e. Removing the milk caraf e 1 Close the milk carafe dispenser by turning it count er clockwise.
29 ENGLISH 29 Emptying the milk carafe 1 Open the milk carafe dispenser by turning it clockwise. 3 Lift the lid. Empty the milk carafe and clean it properly . Note: After each use, clean the milk carafe as described in the “Cleaning and Maintenance ” chapter .
30 ENGLISH CAPPUCCINO BREWING W arning: Danger of scalding! Dispensing may be prec eded by short sprays of milk and steam. Risk of burning. Never seize the car afe handle during the cleaning cycle: risk of scal- ding! W ait until the end of the cycle befor e removing the milk caraf e.
31 ENGLISH 31 4 Open the milk carafe dispenser by turning it clockwise. 5 Press the “ ” button to start the brewing process . CAPPUCCINO PLEASE WAIT … CAPPUCCINO STOP 6 The machine is heating up . Note: The machine requires mor e waiting time for heating up if the EC OMODE is activated.
32 ENGLISH Adjusting the cappuccino length Each time the “ ” button is pressed, the machine br ews a pre-set quan- tity of cappuccino into the cup. The machine allows y ou to adjust the amount of cappuccino according t o your taste and the size of y our cups.
33 ENGLISH 33 4 The machine is heating up . 5 When the machine shows this display , it star ts to pour milk froth into the cup. P ress the “ ” button as soon as the desired amount of milk is reached. 6 Once the milk froth has been poured, the machine starts brewing cof- fee.
34 ENGLISH SPECIAL BEVERAGES The machine is designed to brew mor e co ee products than the ones described before . F or this follow the steps below . 1 Press the “ ” button to ent er the SPECIAL BEVERAGES menu. 2 Select the desired beverage by pressing the “ ” or “ ” scrolling but- ton.
35 ENGLISH 35 4 Once the milk froth has been poured , the machine brews co ee. The brewing can be stopped earlier by pr essing the “ ” button. LA TTE MACCHIAT O HOT MILK HOT W A TER SPECIAL BEVERAGES 2 Press the “ ” button to ent er the SPECIAL BEVERAGES menu.
36 ENGLISH 2 Press the “ ” button to ent er the SPECIAL BEVERAGES menu. 3 After selecting “HOT MILK” by pressing the “ ” or “ ” scrolling butt on, con rm with “ ”. 4 The machine starts pouring hot milk . The pouring can be stopped earlier by pressing the “ ” button.
37 ENGLISH 37 2 Press the “ ” button to ent er the SPECIAL BEVERAGES menu. 3 After selecting HOT W A TER by pressing the “ ” or “ ” scrolling button, con rm with “ ”. 4 Hot water is dispensed. The dispensing can be stopped earlier by pres- sing the “ ” button.
38 ENGLISH 3 After selecting STEAM by pressing the “ ” or “ ” scrolling button, con rm with “ ”. 4 Steam is dispensed. 5 Immerse the hot water/steam wand in the product to be heated. The dispensing can be stopped earlier by pressing the “ ” button.
39 ENGLISH 39 Cappuccino pr ogramming The following pr ocedure describes the prog ramming of a cappuccino. Below the settings of the each submenu are explained. Y ou can select these by pressing the “ ” or “ ” scrolling button. Con rm your settings with “ ”.
40 ENGLISH COFFEE LENGTH By adjusting the bar on the display by pressing the “ ” or “ ” scrolling button, you can choose the quantity of water used for c o ee br ewing.
41 ENGLISH 41 WA TER QUANTITY DEF AUL T 2 Select HOT W A TER by pressing the “ ” or “ ” scrolling button. Press “ ” to con rm. By adjusting the bar on the display by pressing the “ ” or “ ” scrolling button, you can choose the quantity of hot water to be dispensed.
42 ENGLISH General menu The general menu allows you t o change the operation settings. GENERAL MENU TONE ECOMODE ST AND-BY SETTINGS The TONE function de -/activates the sound feedback. The ECOMODE enables y ou to save ener gy by limiting the boiler activation to one when the machine starts up.
43 ENGLISH 43 W ater menu The W A TER MENU allows adjusting water parameters f or optimal co ee. WA TER MENU HARDNESS ENABLE FIL TER ACTIVA TE FIL TER Under HARDNESS, you can set the level of water har dness.
44 ENGLISH Maintenance menu The MAINTENANCE MENU allow s setting all the functions for correct ma- chine maintenance. MAINTENANCE COUNTERS DESCALING BREW GROUP CLEAN CARAFE CLEANING CARAFE CLEAN The COUNTERS function shows ho w many products have been br ewed for every single type of co ee since the last reset.
45 ENGLISH 45 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Daily cleaning of the machine Caution: Timely cleaning and maintenanc e of your machine is v ery impor tant as it prolongs the life of y our machine.
46 ENGLISH 3 Empty the co ee grounds drawer and wash it with fr esh water . 4 Empty and wash the (internal) drip tray and the cover with fr esh water . 5 Correctly reinstall all the components . 6 Inser t the tray and the co ee gr ounds drawer and close the service door .
47 ENGLISH 47 Daily cleaning of the milk carafe: A UTO CLEAN cycle (after each use) After each brewing of a milk beverage the machine performs an automatic cleaning cycle by routing shots of steam through the milk dispenser . This cycle may also be manually activated by pressing the “ ” button on the control panel.
48 ENGLISH 3 Remove the grill and wash it thor oughly . 4 Remove the support under the grill. W ash the support and the drip tray . 5 Dry, reassemble and r einsert it in the machine. 6 Remove the dispensing spout and wash it with water . 7 Clean the pre- ground c o ee compartment with a brush or a dr y cloth.
49 ENGLISH 49 8 Clean the hot water/steam wand and the display with a dry cloth. W eek ly cleaning of the milk carafe The weekly cleaning is more thorough as it r emoves any milk r esidues from the milk dispenser of the carafe. 1 The carafe must be r emoved from the machine and emptied bef ore cleaning.
50 ENGLISH 5 Remove the connector which is in contact with the machine. 6 Remove the handle with the suction tube. 7 Remove the suction tube. 8 Pull out the external tting. 9 Remove the internal tting . 10 Clean all the parts thoroughly with lukewarm water .
51 ENGLISH 51 W eek ly cleaning of the brew group The brew gr oup should be cleaned every time the co ee bean hopper is lled or at least once a week. 1 Press the butt on and open the service door . 2 Remove the (internal) drip tra y and co ee grounds draw er .
52 ENGLISH 8 Gently pull down the lever until it is in contact with the brew gr oup base and the two refer ence signs on the side of the brew gr oup do match. 9 Make sure the hook to lock the brew gr oup is in the correct position by rmly pr essing the “PUSH” button until y ou hear a click.
53 ENGLISH 53 Monthly cleaning of the milk caraf e In the monthly cleaning cycle we use the Saeco Milk Circuit Cleaner to keep the entire circuit clean of milk residues . Y ou can purchase separately the Milk Circuit Cleaner . Please refer to the maintenance products page for further details.
54 ENGLISH 6 Put the lid back on. 7 Rotate the milk dispenser counter-clockwise to the lock position. 8 Inser t the milk carafe into the machine . 9 Place a large container (1,5 lt ) under co ee the dispensing spout. Open the milk dispenser by turning it clockwise.
55 ENGLISH 55 10 Press the “ ” button to start the cycle. The machine starts dispensing the cleaning solution through the milk dispenser . 11 This icon is display ed. The bar shows the cycle progress. W arning: Never drink the solution dispensed during the proc edure.
56 ENGLISH 16 The machine starts dispensing water from both the co ee and the milk dispenser . The bar sho ws the cycle progress . 17 At the end of the cycle, the machine returns t o the product brew menu page. 18 Disassemble and wash the milk carafe as described in the “Weekly cleaning of the milk carafe ” chapter .
57 ENGLISH 57 2 Lubricate the shaft too . 3 Inser t the brew gr oup in its seat until it locks into place (see “Weekly Cleaning of the Brew Group ” chapter). 4 Inser t the (internal) drip tray and co ee grounds drawer and close the service door .

60 ENGLISH DESCALING The descaling process takes appr ox. 35 minutes. Lime scale builds up inside the machine during use. It needs to be remo- ved regularly as it may clog the wat er and co ee circuit of your machine. The machine indicates when descaling is needed.
61 ENGLISH 61 4 Remove the water tank, and if installed, remo ve the INTENZA+ water lter . Pour the entir e content of the Saeco decalci er . Then ll the water tank with fresh water up to the MAX lev el. Pr ess the “ ” button. 5 Empty the (internal) / (external) drip tray .
62 ENGLISH 10 Empty the (internal) drip tray and place it back. Then, press the “ ” button. 11 Empty the milk carafe and ll it with fresh water . Inser t it back in the machine. Pr ess the “ ” button. 12 Empty the container and place it back under the hot water/steam wand and milk dispenser of the carafe.
63 ENGLISH 63 19 The descaling cycle is now complete . Note: At the end of the descaling cycle, wash the brew g roup as described in the “Weekly Cleaning of the Brew Group ” chapter . The rinsing cycle is per formed in or der to have the cir cuit cleaned with a preset amount of water to ensur e proper machine performance.

TURN CARAFE INTO RINSING POSITION ESC Close the milk dispenser of the carafe to start the rinsing cycle of the carafe.
