Note: Y our DF P monitor must have a da ta cable with digit al-only DVI plug (DVI-D) - but not with integrated analog/d igital DVI pl ug (DVI-I).
12 Installi ng the Hardware and Software Replacing a n existing gra phics card Before you insta ll your FireGL card, we recommend that you first unins tall the driv er for your current graphics card.
Installin g the Hardware an d Software 13 Installing the Card T o install your graphics accelerator card, follow these steps: Switch off your computer and all external options (monitor , printer , and others). Then disconnect all cables from th e back of you r computer .
14 Installi ng the Hardware and Software Remove the computer cover . If necessary , consult your computer system manual about removi ng the cover . 2 Reme mber to dischar ge your body ' s st atic electrici ty by touc hing the powe r supply or th e meta l surface of the co mpute r chas sis.
Installin g the Hardware an d Software 15 Remove an y existing graphics card from y our computer . 3 • Unscr ew the scre w attached to your existin g graph ics card . Then pul l the card st raight out. • If the old gr aphics c a rd st icks roc k it gentl y from end to e nd.
16 Installi ng the Hardware and Software Insert the card into t he AGP slot. Note: The FireGL card fits in an AGP Pro 5 0 slot. • Locate the AGP Pro slot. R efer to your co mputer's manual for more inf o rmation. • If necessary , rem ove the metal slot cover from the AGP Pro slot and the ad jacent slot.
Installin g the Hardware an d Software 17 Replace the scre ws to fasten the card in place . Reassemble your computer . 5 • Align the slot in the mounting bracket of the card with the s c rew holes in the rear p anel of the comput er ca se.

U se the provide d DVI-to- VGA adapters to connect monitors with VGA connector .
Installin g the Hardware an d Software 19 Connecting analog VGA Monitors to DVI connectors If the data cable connector on your VGA monitor does not fit into the DVI connecto r on the card, use t he DVI-to-VGA adapters provided with your FireGL card.

Please note that stereo glas ses and stereo shutter devices are optional equipme nt not included in the Fir eG L™ card package.

If you h ave correctly installed t he card, oper ating system messages will ap pear on your monitor when the boo t procedure is finished.

The HYDRA VISION™ multi-monitor and desktop management software will automatically be installed , along with the ATI driver , by selecting this op tion.

Using Your F ireGL Card 35 3 Gamma Correction Adjustment : Adjust the monitor's gamma correction for optimal brightness with the red, green and b lue slider bars. When these sliders are changed the gamma corr ection table modifies each pi xel's color value.
36 U sing Your FireGL Ca rd Using Application Profiles and Advanced Functions Use the Configuration tab to customize application profiles for individual applicatio n settings.

SMOOTHVISION™ SMOOTHVISION improves im age quality by removing jagged edges (Anti-Aliasing) from 3D images, resulting in smoother , more natural looking objects.
40 U sing Your FireGL Ca rd Always on : Y ou can apply anti-aliasing using different sample patterns and sample points su ch as 2X or 4X. Moving the s lider to the right increases sampling to provid e the most realistic 3D image, at the cost of s o me 3D perfor mance.
