Overview The Master View CS-82A KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse), Switch is a control unit that allows access to two computers from a single console (keyboard, monitor and mouse). Before the development of the Master View, the only way to control multiple computer configurations from a single console was through a complex and costly network system.

Hardware Requirements Console M A VGA, SVGA, or Mult isync monit or capable of the highest resolution that you will be using on any computer in the installation M A PS/2 style keyboard M A PS/2 style mouse Computers The following equipment must be installed on each computer that is to be connected to the system: M A VGA, SVGA or Multisync port .
Front View 1. Port Selection Switch es Press a switch to access the computer attached to the corresponding port. 2. Port LEDs: The Port LEDs are built into the Port Selection Swit ches.
Rear View 1. Console Video Co nnecto r The cable from your monitor plugs in here. 2. CPU Port Connectors The KVM cables that connect to the computer’s monitor, keyboard and mouse ports plug in here. Each port is color coded and identified by an appropriate icon.
Installation Refer to the diagram on the next page as you perform the following steps: 1. Plug the monitor, keyboard, and mouse into the Console port connectors of the Master View CS-82A unit.

Operation Controlling all the computers in your CS-82A installation from a single console could not be easier. Two port selection methods that provide instant access to the computers are available: M .
M Selecting the Active Po rt - Defau lt Meth od: The default method to toggle the KVM focus between the two ports from the keyboard is to tap the left or right Ctrl key twice: [Ctrl] [Ctrl] Note: The combination must be on the same side (both Left, or both Right).
M Auto Scan Mode: The CS-82A’s Auto Scan feature automatically switches between the two computers at regular intervals so that you can monitor their activity without having to take the trouble of switching yourself.
Once scanning begins, it continues until you press the [Spacebar] to exit Auto Scan Mode. The port that has the KVM focus at the time scanning stopped remains active.
Appendix Selected LED Display Activity Meaning Off Port is not selected. On (Steady) The computer attached to the LED’s corresponding port has the KVM focus. Flashing (On and Off equal) The computer attached to the LED’s corresponding port has the KVM focus and is being accessed in Auto Scan mode.
Troubleshooting Symptom Cause Action Keyboard 1 and/or Mouse 2 Not Responding Loose cables . Check all c able connec tions to make sure they are c ompletely seated in their sock ets. Switch is in Auto Scan Mode. Press the Spacebar to ex it Auto Scan Mode.
Troubleshooting Notes: 1. The unit is designed to work with PS/2 keyboards and mice. XT (84 key) and AT keyboards will not work. Serial mice will not work. 2. Some Notebooks, notably the IBM Thinkpad and Toshiba Tecra, have trouble when their mouse and keyboard ports are used simultaneously.
