3 INST ALLA TION T able/Desk Installa tion 1 Choose a spot near an electrical outlet and a telephone jack. This phone requires a modular telephone jac k and a standard electrical outlet (110v A C). The outlet should not be controlled by a wall switc h.
4 4 Connect the telephone line cord. Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the jack on the bac k of the base. Plug the other end of the line cor d into a modular jac k. Make sure the plugs snap firmly in place. 5 Connect the power cord. Plug the power adapter into the jack labeled 11V DC on the back of the base.

8 Making a Call 1 Press and release P , and wait for dial tone. 2 When you hear a dial tone, dial the number . Ans w ering a Call Press P . The P light goes on, and the call is connected. Ending a Call Press o on the handset. Redial The last number dialed on this phone (up to 16 digits) is stored in r edial memor y until you dial another number .
9 Handset V olume Adjust the handset volume to high ( H ) or lo w ( L ) using the s witch on the side of the handset. T emporar y T one NOTE: If y ou have touch tone service, you do not need to use the T empor ar y T one f eatur e.
10 Headset Jack Y ou can use this telephone hands-free when you install an optional headset and use the belt clip provided. 1 Attach the belt c lip (see “Belt Clip” in the INST ALLA TION section of this manual). 2 Plug the headset (purc hased separately) into the jac k located on the right side of the handset.
11 OPERA TING RANGE This cordless telephone operates at the maximum po wer allo wed by the Feder al Communications Commission (FCC). Even so, this handset and base can communicate over onl y a cer tain distance — which can var y with the locations of the base and handset, the w eather , and the construction of your home or office.
12 TELEPHONE MEMOR Y This cordless phone can store 10 telephone numbers that you can dial just by pressing m and a number button. Storing Memor y Numbers 1 Make sure the handset is off. 2 Press p (the PHONE light blinks). 3 Press a number key (0 to 9) to select a memor y location.
13 ANSWERING SY STEM SETUP T ur ning the System ON/OFF Press O to turn the answering system on or off. The ON/OFF light is on when the system is on. V olume Press + to incr ease volume when listening to messages.
14 ANSWERING SY STEM SETUP Announce Only Mode Y ou can choose whether the ans wering system will signal callers and record their message (Normal Announce mode, described above) or pla y an announcement f or callers and then hang up (Announce Only mode).
15 ANSWERING SY STEM SETUP T o return to the prer ecor ded announcement 1 Press and release U until y ou hear “Set outgoing message. ” 2 Press and release Y . The system pla ys the current announcement. 3 Press and release D while the announcement is pla ying.
16 ANSWERING SY STEM SETUP NOTE: Y ou may stop the Audib le Message Alert beep by pr essing any button ( except G ) on the base. When new messag es ar e r eceived, the Audib le Messag e Alert is activated ag ain. Remote Access Code The Remote Access Code allows y ou to access features and functions of the answering system fr om a touch tone phone.

19 ANSWERING SY STEM OPERA TION AT THE BASE Sa ving Messages The system saves y our messages automaticall y until you delete them, and can store approximately 15 minutes of messag es, memos and announcements (up to a maximum of 99 messages).

Connect with the Answ ering System 1 Dial your telephone number .
21 ANSWERING SY STEM OPERA TION FR OM A REMO TE TOUCH TONE PHONE Deleting Messages 1 Connect with the answering system, and begin playing messages. 2 While the message is pla ying, press # 9 . Recording Outgoing Announcement 1 Connect with the answering system.
22 BA TTERIES CAUTION: T o reduce the risk of fire or injur y to persons or dama g e to the telephone, r ead and follo w these instructions carefully . • Use only Replacement Batter y 3470. • Do not dispose of the batter y in a fire. The cell might explode.
23 BA TTERIES 1 Open the batter y door on top of the base cradle by lifting the latch on top. 2 Insert the batter y . The SP ARE BA TT CHARGING light goes on.
24 IN C ASE OF DIFFICUL TY If you hav e difficulty operating this phone, try the suggestions below . If you still have troub le, call 1 800 722-9125. If the phone doesn’ t w ork at all, check these items first: • Make sure the A C adapter is plugg ed in.
25 IN C ASE OF DIFFICUL TY If the phone does not ring when y ou r eceiv e a call: • Make sure the handset ringer is on. • Make sure the telephone line cord is connected firmly to the base and the telephone jack. • Make sure the A C adapter is plugged firmly into an outlet not contr olled b y a wall s witch.
26 IN C ASE OF DIFFICUL TY If the system does not respond to r emote commands from a touch tone phone: • Make sure you are calling from a touc h tone phone. When you dial a number , you should hear tones. If you hear clicks instead, the phone is not a touch tone telephone.
