Using Mor e Than One Handset This system can support up to four handsets. Y ou must “register” additional handsets (purc hased separately) with the base. The handset that came with the system (Handset 1) will automatically be r eg istered with the base.
1 Connect the power cord to the base and an electrical outlet not controlled by a wall s witch. Use only the pow er cord supplied with this product. If you need a replacement, call 1 800 222-3111. 3 Install the handset battery. INST ALLA TION 4 Standard electrical outlet Modular telephone jack b) Place the batter y pack in the handset.
INST ALLA TION 5 4 Char ge the handset battery. • Place the handset in the base (or a remote charging stand, purc hased separately). • Charge the battery at least 12 hour s. After the fir st charg e, the batter y will quick charg e in only eight hours.
Handset Softk eys • Pr ess the softkey below the operation displa yed on the screen to select that operation. • For e xample, to enter the menu, press the center softkey . T elephone Featur e Setup—Handset 1 Mak e sure the handset is off. 2 Use the softkey to select MENU .
Handset F eatures Fea ture Dir ections Ringer V olume Y ou can adjust the r inger v olume to four settings or off. Use the softkeys to adjust the volume down or up, or to turn the r inger off. Y ou will hear a volume sample each time y ou change the setting, and the screen displays the v olume level.

The base sounds a tone, and the PO WER and LINE IN USE lights f lash. 3 Follow the dir ections for each f eature as described in “Base Features. ” 4 Press # to sav e the selected setting and exit — OR — Press * to e xit without saving.
Redial 1 Use the softkey to select RDL . The screen displays the last three numbers dialed from this handset. 2 Use the softkeys to highlight the number you want to call.
TELEPHONE OPERA TION A T THE HANDSET 10 V olume 1 Dur ing a call, select VOLUME , then use the softkeys to adjust the earpiece volume. 2 Select OK to save the setting f or future calls. Mute Mute allows you to hear y our caller , but prevents the caller from hearing you.
Handset Icons Icon Description Line in Use On steadily with no number ne xt to it when a parallel set is in use. On steadily with one or more n umber s next to it to show which e xtensions are using the line. F or example, 12 indicates that Handset 1 and Handset 2 are on outside calls.

Delete a Memor y Number 1 Follow Steps 1–3 under “Vie w a Memor y Number . ” 2 Select EDIT . 3 Select DEL . 4 Select THIS to delete the display ed entr y — OR — Select ALL to delete the entire memor y . 5 If you selected ALL , the screen displays ARE YOU SURE? .
Edit a Memor y Number 1 Follow Steps 1–3 under “Vie w a Memor y Number . ” 2 Select EDIT . 3 Select EDIT . 4 Select to mov e the cur sor to where you want to begin editing the phone number . 5 Select MORE for mor e editing choices. 6 Select DEL to delete numbers, then enter new numbers.
Ther e are thr ee one-touch dialing buttons, X , Y , or Z , on the base. Stor e a One-T ouch Number 1 Mak e sure the phone is off. 2 Press and hold X , Y , or Z until you hear a beep. 3 Dial the number you w ant to store. 4 Press the same one-touch button again.
Base to All Handsets 1 Press I on the base. All handsets r eg istered with the base will ring, and each screen will displa y GLOBAL CALL FROM BASE . 2 Respond at any handset by pressing I on the handset. 3 T o end the intercom connection, press O on the handset — OR — Press I on the base.
Handset to Base and All Handsets 1 Press I on the handset. 2 Press * on the handset. All registered handsets and the base will ring. 3 Respond at any handset or the base by pressing I . 4 T o end the intercom connection, press O on the handset — OR — Press I on the base.
F our-W a y Conferencing Y ou can have a “conference” call using up to two r eg istered handsets, the base, and an outside caller . Press P on the handset — OR — Press K on the base.
Vie w Calls Lo g The handset stores up to 50 Caller Identification r ecords in the Calls Log, with the most recent recor ds displayed first. 1 Select MENU . 2 Select CALLS LOG . The scr een display is similar to: 3 Select or to scroll through the Calls Log.

Batter y Life Batter y life depends on ho w far the handset is from the base, and other environmental conditions. NOTE: F or optimum perf ormance, charg e your handset on the base every night. Char ge the Handset Ba tter y P ack • This batter y should remain charg ed for up to fiv e days.
Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries. Dispose of batteries in a safe manner . Consult your local waste disposal compan y for disposal inf or mation. Do not burn or puncture. Like other batteries of this type, if bur ned it could e xplode and if punctured it could release corrosive material which could injure the skin or eyes and which ma y be toxic.
P o w er F ail Operation Y ou can use your cordless phone during a pow er outa ge when a full y charg ed batter y is installed in the base unit (see “Spare Batter y”). This batter y will provide enough power f or you to make and receiv e calls for up to five hours.

If y ou hear noise or interference when using the phone: • Y ou may be out of rang e. Mov e closer to the base. • Household appliances plugged into the same cir cuit as the base can sometimes cause interfer ence. T r y moving the appliance or the base to another outlet.
