17 The user- friendl y design of the Op tio WS80 enab les easy operatio n with only a few b uttons. Simply by choo sing the appro priate i con, you ca n select the shoo ting mode (p.73) and choose the optim al settin gs for the s ituation, or the p lay back m ode (p.
18 When you tak e a pict ure wi th the Op tio WS80, you c an choo se from a wide range of fun frames to create attra ctive framed shot s (p.93). You ca n also add frames to pictures you have taken. Adj ust th e posi tion of th e subj ect in th e picture or reduce or e nlarge th e pictu re size to match the fram e shape and size.

39 1 Getting Started • Battery Level Indi cator You can c heck the ba ttery lev el by the indicator on the dis play. • In general, battery performanc e may temporarily deteriorate as the temperature decreases. • Be su re to take a spare battery wit h you when traveling abroad or to a cold region, or if you intend t o take a lot of pictures.

41 1 Getting Started • Make sure that the cam era is tu rned off before connecting or disconnecting the A C adapter. • Make sure that the AC plug cord and the DC terminal connecting the AC adapter to the camera are inserted securely.
42 1 Getting Started Instal ling the SD Memory Card This camera uses either an SD Memory Card or an SDHC Memo ry Card. (Both card s are referred to as SD Memory Card s hereafter.) Cap tured images and soun d files a re saved on the SD Memory Ca rd if a card is inserted in the cam era.

44 1 Getting Started Precautio ns When Using an SD Me mory Card • The S D Memory Card is equipped with a write- protect switch. S etting the switch to LOCK prevents new data from being recorded on the card, the stored data from being delet ed, and the card from being form atted by the camera or computer.
