BE FO RE YO U B EGI N 1 Choosing a Location for Your Phone F or best reception quality choose a location for the base unit of your new telephone: • a way from micr owa ve ovens • aw a y from TVs,VCRs,stereo equipment and computer s (Cordless telephones operate at a radio frequency that may cause interference with these types of equipment.
Before You Install 1 Choose a location for the base near an electrical outlet and a telephone jack. This phone requires a modular telephone jack and a standard electrical outlet (110v A C) not controlled by a wall switch. 2 Install the handset battery.

I N S TA L L AT I O N 4 3 Charge the handset battery. Place the handset in the base. Charg e the battery for at least 12 hours the first time. 4 Check for dial tone. After the batteries are char g ed,pick up the handset and press ; y ou should hear a dial tone.

16 CA LL ER ID O P E R AT I O N About Call Histor y This phone assigns each incoming call a number from 1 to 99. The most recent call will ha ve the highest number. When the memory is full,the oldest call information is deleted to make room for new incoming call information.

19 Charge the Handset Battery Pack • This battery should remain char g ed up to six days with the ringer turned on and up to 10 days with the ringer of f. A fully charged battery pr ovides an averag e talk time of about 10 hours. • The battery pack needs char ging when: — A new battery is installed in the handset.
20 Replacing the Handset Battery Pack 1 Remove the battery compartment cover on the handset b y pressing on the indentation and sliding the co v er downward. 2 Lift out the old battery pack and disconnect. 3 Align the two holes in the new battery pack’s plug with the sock et pins,and snap the plug into place.
