11 Connecting and Setting Up Preset Download Function The Preset Download function automatically copies the tuning position of all av ailable TV stations into the VCR ’ s memor y when you connect the VCR using a fully-wired 21-pin Scar t cable to a TV equipped with the Q Link function.

13 Connecting and Setting Up If you are connecting your VCR to a TV using Method 1, follo w the oper ations e xplained below . Auto Setup Function The A uto Setup function automatically tunes all availab le TV stations and sets the VCR ’ s clock to the current date and time.

16 Pla ybac k Preparations ≥ Confir m that the VCR is on. ≥ Confir m that the TV is on and the VCR viewing channel is selected. ≥ Insert a recorded video cassette. As soon as the cassette is inserted, the Cassette Number Check starts. Wait a few moments until it is completed.

18 Operations 1 Insert a video cassette with an intact erasure prevention tab. ≥ As soon as the cassette is inserted, the Cassette Number Check starts. Wait a few moments until it is completed. (See page 15.) ≥ If it has already been inserted, press the VCR-ON/OFF button 1 to turn the VCR on.

20 T o Man uall y Adjust the Audio Recor ding Level This VCR adjusts the recording lev el automatically to prevent sound distortion due to excessive peaks. Howe ver , if y ou want to manually adjust the audio recording level, perform the operation steps below before you start the actual recording.
21 Timer Recording Timer Recor ding This function lets you programme the VCR for unattended automatic recording of desired TV programmes when y ou are not at home or sleeping.

25 Timer Recording T o Check the T otal Timer Recording Programming Time The total time indication for timer recording programming lets y ou check how many programmes can be recorded b y compar ing with the remaining tape time in the VCR displa y . ≥ The total time is calculated in the SP mode.
26 This advanced system makes it quick and easy to check the contents of an inserted cassette. It can also be used to quickly find out which cassette in your collection contains a desired programme.

Then press the Cursor buttons ( 3421 ) R to select the programme and then press the LIBRAR Y button M . ≥ After the selected programme has been found, the current tape contents list disappears and playback star ts automatically .

30 Caution: The T ape Library system offers a conv enient back-up option, in case you later regret ha ving deleted the T ape Librar y data. T o hav e this option availab le, make sure yo u know on which cassette you recorded last before the deletion. If that cassette is not available, record for at least 15 minutes on any cassette.

This editing method lets y ou precisely set the end point, and the recording will stop automatically when this point is reached.
37 Adv anced Operations A.DUB A.DUB 1 2 3 5 6 Preparations ≥ Connect the audio equipment or a video movie camer a to this VCR with an audio cable. ≥ Displa y the VCR picture on the TV . ≥ Inser t the cassette on which the audio dubbing is to be perf or med, and mak e sure that its erasure prev ention tab is not broken out.
38 Audio Dubbing on a Panasonic Hi-Fi VCR General ≥ The VHS format allows audio dubbing only on the normal (mono) audio track, as the Hi-Fi audio tracks cannot be re-recorded without erasing the video signal.

40 T o Connect the VCR to a Stereo Amplifier 1 Connect a 21-pin Scar t cable (not supplied) to the A V2 21-pin Scart socket l on the VCR and to the 21-pin Scar t socket on the decoder . 2 Connect the decoder ’ s mains lead to an AC mains socket. 3 Set “ AV 2 ” to “ DECODER ” .

42 Hint: ≥ If you select “ RF ” in step 3 , “ Satellite - P osition ” is set automatically and it is not possible to change the satellite programme position here . If you want to change it, ref er to page 44. Note: ≥ If your satellite receiver is not included in the list of compatible satellite receiv ers, this VCR cannot control it.

In this case , the number of the satellite channels that can be controlled from the VCR is the same. ≥ Some satellite receiv ers offer more than 99 satellite channels, but e ven in this case, only the satellite channels 1 through 99 can be controlled from the VCR.
