Variab le power cookin g contro l The coil of power relay A and B are energized intermittently by the digital progra mmer circuit, when the oven is set to MEDIU M or DEFRO ST power positio n. The digital progra mmer circuit contro ls the ON-OFF time of the power relay A and B contac ts in order to vary the output power of the microw ave oven.
Unlike many other applian ces, the microw ave oven is high- voltage, high-cu rrent equipm ent. Thoug h it is free from dange r in ordina ry use, extrem e care should be taken during repair. 17.1. Check the grounding Do not operat e on a 2-wire extens ion cord.
17.5. Confirm after repair 1. After repair or replace ment of parts, make sure that the screws of the oven, etc. are neither loose nor missin g. Microwave might leak if screws are not proper ly tightened. 2. Make sure that all electrical connec tions are tight before insertin g the plug into the wall outlet.
18.1. Replacement of magnetrons (Upper and Lower) Upper magne tron 1. Discha rge electric charge remain ing on the high voltage capacitors. 2. Remov e the entire rear panel by removing screws as shown. 3. Discon nect all lead wires from magne tron and thermal cutout.
Removal of Positiv e Lock conne ctor The positiv e lock connec tor is a specially design ed loose free connec tor and you will find this connec tor in many lead wire connec tions. To remove this connector, pull the lead wire by pressin g an extruded lever in the center of recept acle terminal as shown.
18.4. Replacement of upper antenna 1. Remov e ceiling plate by gently moving the left and right tabs inward while pulling the plate down and outwar d. 2. Using a small flat screwdriver or the like, remove two plastic clips located on the antenn a ring.
2. Remov e 2 screws holding temp sensor and replace with new one. 3. Solder the lead wires secure ly to the sensor termin als. 18.7. Disassembly of door assembly 1.
19.1. High voltage transformer 1. Remov e connec tions from the transfo rmer terminals and check continu ity. 2. Norma l (cold) resista nce readin gs should be as follows : Secon dary windin g Approx . 80 Ω —120 Ω Filame nt windin g Approx . 0 Ω Primary windin g Approx .
one or both directio ns. 19.7. Temp sensor (Thermal protector) A temp sensor is mount ed on exhaus t guide. Its purpos e is to autom atically shut off the oven in case the cavity overhe ats for any reason. The therma l protec tor will operate at 257°F (125°C ).
20.1. Installation of Safety switch A , Safety switch B and Short switch 1. When mount ing Safety switch A, Safety switch B and short switch to door hook assem bly, mount the Safety switch A, Safety switch B and the short switch to the door hook assem bl y as shown .
NOTE: The U. S. Gover nment standa rd is 5 mW/cm 2 while in the custom er's home. 2 mW/cm 2 stated here is our ow n voluntary standa rd. (1 mW/cm 2 for Canad a) 21.1. Equipment Note before measu ring. 1. Do not exceed meter full scale deflect ion.
