VQT1 W26 14 Preparation The number o f recordable pictures and playback time w ill vary depending on the operating conditions and s toring condition of the battery . ∫ Charging Charging time and number of recordable pictu res with the optional battery pack (DMW-BCF10PP) are the same as above.

VQT1 W26 16 Preparation About the Built-in Mem ory/the Card • Memory size: Approx. 50 MB • Re cordable motion pi ctures: QVGA (320 k 240 pixels) only • T he built -in memory can be used as a temporary st orage device when the card being used becomes full.

VQT1 W26 22 Preparation • When you connect t he camera to a TV , the volume of the TV s peakers does not change. • High angle mode is also cancel ed if you turn the camera of f or [POWER SA VE] is activated.
23 VQT1W26 Preparatio n • Press the s hutter butt on halfway or t urn the camera of f and on to c ancel [POWER SA VE]. • [POWER S A VE] is set to [5MIN.] in the In telli gent au to mode. • [PO WER SA VE] i s fixed to [ 2MIN.] when [ AUTO LCD OFF ] is se t to [1 5SEC.
VQT1 W26 24 Preparation • The folder number is upd ated and the f ile number star ts fro m 0001. (P83) • A folder number betwee n 100 and 999 can be assigned. When the fo lder numbe r reaches 999 , the numbe r cannot be reset. W e recommen d formatt ing the c ard (P 25) after sa ving th e data on a PC or else whe re.
25 VQT1W26 Preparatio n • Use a battery with sufficient battery power or the AC adaptor (DMW-AC5PP; optional) and DC coupler (DMW-DCC4; optional) when formatting. Do not turn the camera off during formatting. • If a card has be en inserted, on ly the card is f ormatted.
VQT1 W26 26 Preparation Selecting the [REC] M ode When the [REC] mode is selected, the camera can be set to the I ntelligent auto mode in which the optimal s ettings are established in line with the subject to be recorded and the recording conditions, or to the Scene mode whic h enables you to take pictures that match the scene be ing recorded.
27 VQT1W26 Basic [REC ] mod e: ñ Basic T aking pictures using the automatic functio n ( ñ : Intelligent Aut o Mode) The camera will set the most appropriate settings to match the subject and the recording conditions so we recommend this mode for beginners or those who want to leave the settings to the camera and take pictures easily .

VQT1 W26 30 Basic [REC] mode: · T aking pictu res with your favorite se ttings ( · : Normal picture mode) The camera automatically sets the shutter speed and the aperture value according to the brightness of the subject. Y ou can take pictures with greater freedom by changing various settings in [REC] menu.

33 VQT1W26 Basic ∫ Exte nded opt ical z oom mecha nism When you set the picture size to [ ] (3 million pixels), the 12M (12.1 million pixels) CCD area is cro pped to the center 3M (3 million pixels) ar ea, allowing a picture with a higher zoom effect.
VQT1 W26 34 Basic ∫ Fast fo rwarding/ Fast rewi nding Press and hold 2 / 1 during playback. • The f ile num ber A and the picture number B only change one by one . Release 2 / 1 when the number of the d esired p icture appears to pl ay back the pict ure.
35 VQT1W26 Basic [PLA Y BACK] mode: ¸ Deleting Pictures Once deleted, pictures cannot be recovered. • Pictures on t he built-in memory or the card, which is being played back will be deleted. Switching the [PLA YBACK ] mode 1 Press [MODE] during playback.

41 VQT1W26 Advanced (Recor ding pictures) [REC ] mod e: ·n T aking Close-up Pictures This mode allows you to take close-up pictures of a subject, e.g. when t aking pictures of flowers. Y ou can take pictures of a subject as close as 5 cm (0.17 feet) from the lens by rotating the zoom lever upmost to Wide (1 k ).

VQT1 W26 44 Advanced (Reco rding picture s) [REC] mode: ·¿ T aking Pic tures using Auto Bracket In this mode, 3 pictures are aut omatically recorded in t he selected exp osure compensation ra nge each time the shut ter button is pressed. Y ou can select the picture with the desired exp osure from the 3 pictures with different exposures.
45 VQT1W26 Advanced (Recor ding pictures) [REC ] mod e: ¿ T aking pictures that match the scene bein g recorded (Scene mod e) When you select a Scene mode to match the subject and recording situation, t he camera sets the optimal exposure and hue to obt ain the desired picture.

VQT1 W26 70 Advanced (Pl ayback) [PLA YBACK] mode: ¸ Selecting Pictures and Playing them Back ([CA TEGORY PLA Y]/[FA VO RITE PLA Y]) This mode allows you to search images by Scene mode or other categories (such as [PORTRAIT], [SCENERY] or [NIGHT SCENERY]) and sort the pictures into each of the categories.

73 VQT1W26 Advanced (Playback) Y ou can add text (comments) to pictures. After text has been registered, it can be included in prints using [TEXT ST AM P] (P74). (Only alphabetical characters and symbols can be entered.) Names set in [BABY1]/[BABY 2] and [PET] in Sc ene mode or [LO CA TION] in T ravel date are also rec orded as the titles.

VQT1 W26 78 Advanced (Pl ayback) Not e • When you play back p ictures on a PC, they can not be dis played in the ro tated direction unless the OS or software is compa tible with Exif. Exif is a file format for still pictures which allows recording inf ormati on etc.
79 VQT1W26 Advanced (Playback) DPOF “Digital Print Order Format” is a system that allows the user to select which pictures to print, how many copies of each pictu re to print and whether or not to print the recording date on the pic tures when using a DP OF compatible photo printer or photo printing store.
VQT1 W26 80 Advanced (Pl ayback) ∫ T o print the dat e After setting the number of prints, set/cancel printing with t he recording date by pressing [DISPLA Y]. • When you go to a photo pr inting store f or digital printing , be sure to ord er the printin g of the date additi onally if requ ired.
81 VQT1W26 Advanced (Playback) Note • The protec t setting may not be effec tive on other equipment. • Even if you protect pictures in the built-in memo ry or a card, they will be deleted if the built-in memory o r the car d is format ted.
VQT1 W26 82 Connecting to other equi pment Connecting to othe r equipment Connecting t o a PC Y ou can acquire recorded pictures to a PC by connecting the camera and the PC.
83 VQT1W26 Connecting t o other equi pment Using a drag-and-drop oper ation, move the pictures yo u want to acquire or the folder storing those pictures to any dif fer ent folder on the PC. ∫ Disconnecting the USB connection cable safely • Proceed with th e hardware remov al using “Safely Remov e Hardware” on the t ask tray of the PC.
VQT1 W26 84 Connecting to other equi pment Printing the Pictures If you connect the camera to a printer supporti ng PictBridg e, you can select the pictures to be printed out and i nstruct that printing be started on the camera’s LCD monitor . Preparations: T urn on the camera and t he printer .
