Preparation 9 Using the navigator key The handset navigator key can be used to navigate through menus and to select items shown on the display by pressing {^} , {V} , { < } , or { > } . T o adju st the receiver or speaker volume , press {^} to increase the volume, or press {V} to decrease the volume repeatedly while talking.
Preparation 10 If you subscribe to a DSL/ADSL service Please attach a DSL/ADSL filter (cont act your DSL/ADSL provider) to the telephone line between the base unit and the telephone line jack in the event of the following: – noise is heard during conversations.

Shared Phonebo ok 16 Shared phonebook The shared phonebook allows you to make calls without having to dial manually . Any handse t registered to the base unit can use the shared phonebook. Y ou can add 50 names and phone numbers to the shared phonebook.

L Press the same dial key repeatedly to display the first entry corresponding to each character located on that dial key .
Programming 18 Programmable settings Y ou can customize the unit by programming the following featur es using the handset. T o access the features, there are 2 methods: – scrolling through the display menus (page 18) – using the direct commands (page 20) L Mainly the direct command method is used in these operating instructions.

Caller ID Service 25 Using Caller ID service Important: L This unit is Caller ID compatible. T o use Caller ID features, you must subscribe to Caller ID service. Contact your service provider/telephone company for details. Caller ID features When an outside call is being received, the phone number is displayed.

Intercom/Loc ator 28 Intercom Intercom calls can be made between handsets. Note: L If you receive an outside call while talking on the intercom, you hear 2 tones. T o answer the call with the handset, press { OFF } , then press {C} . L When paging unit(s) for an intercom call, the paged unit(s) beeps for 1 minute.
Intercom/Loca tor 29 Handset locator Y ou can locate a misplaced handset by paging it. 1 Base unit: { LOCA TOR } L All registered handsets beep for 1 minute.
Useful Information 30 W all mounting Base unit 1 Lead the telephone line cord through the hole in the wall mounting adaptor in the direction of the arrow . 2 T u ck the telephone line cord inside the wall mounting adaptor ( A ). Connect the AC adaptor cord and telephone line cord ( B ).

Useful Information 33 T roubleshooting If you still have difficulties af ter following the instructions in this section, disconnect the base unit’s AC adaptor , then reconnect the base unit’s AC adaptor . Remove the batteries from the handset, and then insert the batteries into the handset ag ain.
