Recording 41 VQT1 H62 Recording Before recording First, format the SD car d if one which has been used on another device is going to be u sed for the first time on thi s unit. ( l 75) When the SD card is formatted, all of the recorded data is deleted.

43 VQT1 H62 Recording Recording motion pictures Record motion pictures on an SD card. ≥ Use an SD card that can be used for motio n picture recording. ( l 25) ≥ This unit records high definition images that are compatible with the 16: 9 aspect ratio of a wide-screen TV .
44 VQT1H 62 Recording ª When recording stop s suddenly during motion picture recor ding When using an SD card other than one that can be used for motion picture recording ( l 25), the recording may stop suddenly . At this time, the following message appears.
Recording 45 VQT1 H62 Switch the picture quality of the motion pictures to be recorded. ¬ Rot ate the mode dial to s elect . Press th e MENU butt on, then sel ect [VIDEO] # [REC MODE] # desi red item and pre ss the cursor butto n.
46 VQT1H 62 Recording Recording still pictures (JPEG images ) Record the still picture on an SD card. ≥ This number of recording pixels for still pictures is compatible with the 16:9 aspect ratio of a wide-screen TV . They are recorded at 1920 k 1080.
47 VQT1 H62 Recording ≥ If the write protection switch on the SD card is set to LOC K, it cannot be used for recording. ≥ The PHOTO SHOT but ton on the remote control cannot be pressed halfway . ≥ If th e [PICT . QUALITY] is set to [ ] , mosaic-pattern noise may appear on a playback image d epending on the picture content.
48 VQT1H 62 Recording Y ou can rec ord still pictures even while recording motion pictures. While reco rding motion p ictures, press the P HOTO SHOT but ton fully (press to the bottom) to t ake the picture. ≥ The PHOTO SHOT but ton cannot be pressed halfway in the simultaneous recording.
49 VQT1 H62 Recording Recording Functions The maximu m optical zoom rat io is 10 k . ¬ Rot ate the mode dial to s elect . Move the zoom lever . T side: Close-up recording ( zoom in) W side: Wide-angle recording (zoom out) ≥ If you take your finger off the zoom lever during zoom operation, the o peration sound may be recorded.
50 VQT1H 62 Recording ≥ The stereo effect will be reduc ed with tele-shots. Y ou can record yourself while viewing the LCD monitor . ¬ Rot ate the mode dial to s elect . Rotate the L CD m onito r to wards the lens side. The image is horizontally flipped as if you see a mirror image.
51 VQT1 H62 Recording Fade in: The image and audio gradually appear . Fade out: The image and audio gradually disappear . ¬ Rot ate the mode dial to s elect . 1 Press the cu rsor button. Then move the cursor butto n down to display the icon shown in the illustration.
52 VQT1H 62 Recording This function allows you to record color images in very low light situations. (Minimum required illumination: approx. 1 lx) Attach this unit to a tripod, and you can record images free from v ibration. ≥ Recorded scene is seen as if frames w ere missed.

57 VQT1 H62 Recording T o cancel the guide line function Press the MENU button, then select [BASIC] or [PLA Y SETUP] # [ GUIDE LINES] # [OFF] and press the cursor button. ≥ The guide lines do not appear on the images actually recorded. ≥ The guidelines are not displayed while rotat ing the LCD monitor frontward to record yourself.
58 VQT1H 62 Recording 3 Press t he cursor button to set and then press the MENU butt on to finish the setting. D Microphone input level meter ≥ Microphone input level meter is displayed on the screen. T o return to automatic s etting Press the MENU button, then select [VIDEO] # [MIC L EVEL] # [AUT O], and press the cursor button.
59 VQT1 H62 Recording ≥ This function is canceled when the power is turned off. ≥ The icon will not be disp layed even if you press the cursor button. Y ou can record bright pictures even in dark places by slowing the shutter speed. ¬ Rot ate the mode dial to s elect .
60 VQT1H 62 Recording ≥ Y ou can also cancel the scene mode function by setting the AUTO/MANUAL/FOCUS switch to AUT O. Sport s mode ≥ For slow-motion playback o r playback pause of recorded pictures, this mode helps diminish camera shake. ≥ During normal playback, the image movement may not look smooth.

63 VQT1 H62 Recording Shutter Speed: Adjust it when recording fast-moving subjects. When recording people outdoors at night, select the auto slow shutter mode and use a flash. Both the subject and the background will become brighter . Aperture: Adjust it when the screen is too bright or too dark.

67 VQT1 H62 Playback ≥ When [PLA Y M ODE] is set t o [VIEW ALL], all recorded motion pictures will be played back in succession. ([ ] is displayed.) ≥ Playing back all the scenes returns if the power is turned off or the mode dial is operated. ≥ Even if scenes are recorded on the same day , they are grouped s eparately in the following cases.

69 VQT1 H62 Playback ≥ Do not operate the mode dial during t he slide show . ≥ It takes time to display t he file, and how long it will take depends on the number of pixels of the file. ≥ Files which can not be displayed as thumbna ils (the thumbnails are display ed as ) cannot be played back.
70 VQT1H 62 Editin g Editing Editing scenes The deleted scenes cannot be res tored. ¬ Rot ate the mode dial to s elect and then s elect the [ ] (moti on picture pla yback) t ab. 1 Press the button during playback . 2 When th e confirmatio n message appears , select [YE S], then pr ess the cursor button.
71 VQT1 H62 Editin g ≥ T o delete an unwanted p art of a scene, divide the scene first, and then delete t he unnecessary part. ( l below) ≥ Scenes which cannot be played back (the thumbnails are displa yed as ) cannot be deleted. ≥ Protected scenes cannot be deleted.
72 VQT1H 62 Editin g ≥ When [CANCEL ALL] is selected, the divided points of all scenes ar e deleted and the unit turns back to the setting that plays back all scenes even if you selected to play back the scenes by date. Scenes can be protected so that they are not deleted by mis t ake.

With ot her produc t s 84 VQT1H 62 ª About the time it t akes to copy The time it takes to copy dif fers depending on the number of scenes recorded on the SD card, the type of disc etc. Also, it takes time to automatically chec k the copied data. For this reason, it may take longer to copy than the recording time on the SD ca rd.
85 VQT1 H62 With ot her produc ts ≥ We recommend preparing the necessary number of DVD-RAM or DVD-RW that have not been recor ded on after being formatted by connecting this unit to a DVD burner , or the necessary num ber of new discs, and spare discs.
86 VQT1H 62 With ot her produc t s 4 When th e confirmatio n message appears , select [YE S], then pr ess the cursor button. ≥ A message appears indicating cop ying is complete. Eject the disc and disconne ct the Mini AB USB Connection Cable from this unit.

(Y ou cannot su pply power to the DVD burner from this unit.) ≥ Please read t he operating instructions of the DV D burner for how to use it.
88 VQT1H 62 With ot her produc t s Rotate the mode di al to select , connect this unit to t he DVD burner , inser t a disc in the DVD burner and then select [ ] (disc play back) tab ( l 84). This is for initi alizing DVD-RAM and DVD-RW discs. Please be aware that if a disc is formatted, then all the data reco rded on the disc w ill b e erased.

(Read the operating instructions for the printer .) PictBridge is an indus try standard from the Camera & I maging Products Association (CI P A) for direct printing.
