VQT1 W65 12 Preparation Preparation Charging the Battery ∫ About batteries that you can use with thi s unit The bat tery that can be used wi th this unit is DMW-BCF1 0PP. • Us e the dedicated charger a nd battery . • T his unit has a function that can distinguish useable batteries.
13 VQT1W65 Preparatio n ∫ When the [CHARGE] indicator flashes • The battery temper ature is exce ssively high or low . The c harging time will be longer than normal. Also, charging may not be c ompleted. • The terminals of t he charger or the batt ery are dirty .
VQT1 W65 14 Preparation The number o f recordable pictures and playback time w ill vary depending on the operating conditions and s toring condition of the battery . ∫ Charging Charging time and number of recordable pictu res with the optional battery pack (DMW-BCF10PP) are the same as above.

VQT1 W65 22 Preparation • When you connect t he c amera to a TV , the volume of the T V speakers does not change. • High angle mode is also cancel ed if you turn the camer a off or [POWER SA VE] is activat ed.

VQT1 W65 24 Preparation • The folder number is upd ated and the file number s tarts fro m 0001 . (P84) • A folder number betwee n 100 and 999 can be assig ned. When the fo lder number rea ch es 999, the numbe r cannot be rese t. We recommen d formatting the c ar d (P 2 5) afte r savi n g th e da ta on a PC or el s e w h e re .
25 VQT1W65 Preparatio n • Use a battery with sufficient battery power or the AC adaptor (DMW-AC5PP; optional) and DC coupler (DMW-DCC4; optional) when formatting. Do not turn the camera off during formatting. • If a card has be en inserted, only the c ard is formatted.
VQT1 W65 26 Preparation Selecting the [REC] M ode When the [REC] mode is selected, the camera can be set to the I n telligent auto mode in which the optimal s ettings are established in line with the subject to be recorded and the recording conditions, or to the Scene mode whic h enables you to take pictures that match the scene be ing recorded.
27 VQT1W65 Basic [REC ] m o de: ñ Basic T aking pictures using the automatic functio n ( ñ : Intelligent Aut o Mode) The camera will set the most appropriate settings to match the subject and the recording conditions so we recommend this mode for beginners or those who want to leave the settings to the camera and take pictures easily .

33 VQT1W65 Basic ∫ Extende d optical zoom mechan ism When you set the picture size to [ ] (3 million pixels), the 12M (12.1 million pixels) CCD area is cro pped to the center 3M (3 million pixels) area, allow ing a picture with a higher zoom effect.
VQT1 W65 34 Basic ∫ Fast fo r wa r di ng/Fast rewi nd ing Move and hold 2 / 1 during playback. • The f ile num ber A and the picture number B only change one by one . Release 2 / 1 when the nu mber of the d esired pictur e appears to play b ack the pict ure.

Y ou can take pictures of a s ubject as close as 5 cm (0.17 feet) from the lens by rotating the zoom lever upmost to Wide (1 k ).

VQT1 W65 44 Advanced (Reco rding pictures) [REC] mode: ·¿ T aking Pic tures using Auto Bracket In this mode, 3 pictures are automatically r ecorded in the s elected exposure compensation ra nge each time the shut ter button is pressed. Y ou can s elect the picture with the desired exp osure from the 3 pictu res with different exposures.

VQT1 W65 74 Advanced (Pl ayback) Y ou can add text (comments) to pictures. After text has been registered, it can be included in prints using [TEXT ST AMP ] (P75) . (Only alphabetical characters and symbols can be entered. ) Names set in [BABY1]/[BABY2] and [PET] in Scene mode or [LOCA TION] in Tr avel date are also recorded as the titles.

VQT1 W65 80 Advanced (Pl ayback) DPOF “Digital Print Order Format” is a system t hat allows the user to select which pictures to print, how many copies of each picture to print and whether or not to print the recording date on the pictures when using a DPOF compat ible photo printer or photo printing store.
81 VQT1W65 Advanced (Playback) ∫ T o print th e date After setting the number of pri nts, set/cancel printing with the recording date by pressing [DISP .]. • When you go to a phot o printing store for digital prin tin g, be sure to order the pr int ing of the date addit ionally if required.

VQT1 W65 84 Connecting to other equipment Using a drag-and-drop oper ation, m ove the pictur es you want to acquire or the folder storing those pictures to any differ ent folder on the PC. ∫ Disconnecting the USB connection cable safely • Proceed with the hardwar e removal using “Safel y Remove Hardware” on the t as k tray of the PC.
85 VQT1W65 Connecting t o other equipment Printing the Pict ures If you connect the camera to a printer supporting Pict Bridge, you can select the pictures to be printed out a nd instruct that print ing be started on the cam era’s LCD monitor . Preparations: Turn on the camera and the printer .
