4 PREPARA TION POWER SOURCES You can operate the CTR-110 using: • Internal ba ttery power (us ing fou r C ba t ter ie s) • AC power (using an optional AC adapter) • V eh icle battery powe r (using a n optional DC adap ter) Note : Internal batteries autom atically disconnect when y ou conn ect an adapter.
5 • If y ou do n ot pl an to u se the CTR-1 10 from battery power fo r a mo nth or m ore, or if y ou plan to use only an adapter , remove the batteries t o p rotect the CTR- 1 10 from possibl e battery leak- age. Using AC Power You can power the CT R-110 from standard A C pow er using an o ptional AC ada pter, such as Radio Shack Cat.
6 • Always plug t he adapter into th e CTR-1 10 bef ore you plug i t into the cigarette-lighter socket, and always u nplug the adap ter from the cigarette-lighter sock et before you unplug it from the CTR-1 10 . Follow these steps to use your vehi- cle’s battery.

Even tho ugh some earphones are designed t o let you hear som e out- side so unds when l istening at normal volume levels, the y still can present a traffic hazard.
8 RADIO OPERATION 1. Set FUNCTION to RADI O to tur n on the radio. 2. Set BAND to AM or FM . 3. Rotate the tuning control to select the desired station.
9 CASSE TTE PLAYER OPERATION LOADING A CASSETTE TA P E 1. T ake up any slac k in the tape by turning t he cass ette’s hub wi th a penc il. If you do no t remov e excess slack, t he tape could beco me tangled in the rec ord/ playbac k mec hanism. 2. Press STOP/ EJECT t o open the casset te compartment ’s door .
10 3. Adjust VO LU M E MI N/ MAX to a comfortable listening level. 4. Set E-BASS ON/OFF to ON to boost low frequen cy soun ds. Set it t o OF F for normal bass sound. 5. Press STOP/ EJECT t o stop pl ay- back before it automatically stops. Pres s STOP/EJECT again to open the cassette compart- ment and remove the cassette tap e .
11 3. Place the CTR-1 1 0 1–2 feet from the recording source. 4. Press RECO RD to begin rec ord- ing. PLA Y and REC ORD lock down. Note : T o te mpo ra rily st o p recording, press P AUSE . T o resume recordi ng, press P AUSE again. 5. Press STOP/EJ ECT to st o p recording.
