9 CONNECTIONS Before using your TV/VCR for the first time, read through this entire section to determine which connections be st meet y our ne eds. Then follow the di r ections f or complet ing the connec tions.
10 If you do not recei ve scram bled ch annels, you can connect the cable directly t o the T V/ VCR’s VHF/UHF termi nal. If you recei ve scramb led ch annel s, you mu st connect t he cable c onverter b ox to the T V/ VCR’s VHF/UHF termina l.
11 SETUP FRO N T P AN EL The buttons on the TV/VCR’ s front panel control the TV and the V CR. REMOTE CONT ROL All the remot e control’s butt ons have the s ame functions as the buttons o n the TV/ VCR’s fron t panel.
12 SETTI NG THE ON-SCREEN LANGUAGE/CHANNEL S/ CLOCK The first time you turn on the TV/VCR, the SEL EC T LANG UAGE screen aut omatica lly ap- pears. You can set the T V/VCR to display on- screen m enus in English o r in Spanish.
13 • If a channel you wanted was not stored, you can add the channel. If a channel you did not wa nt was stored, y ou can delet e the channel. See “Addi ng/Erasing Channels” on Pa ge 15. • The TV/ VCR retains stored channels when y ou turn off the TV/VCR, or if power to the TV/V CR is lost for up to 6 0 seconds .
14 • If the TV /VCR does not f ind an EDS sig- nal during the search, you see: If this oc curs, the broadcast er you selected di d not trans mit an EDS signal, or there is no EDS broadc aster in your area. M a nually set the clock (see “S et ting the Clock Manually” on Page 15).
15 3. If neces sary , press SEL or SE L on the remote control to highlight AN TE NNA SYST EM : , t hen pres s SET to d isplay the broadcast system ( TV or CATV ).
16 5. Repeat edly press SEL or SEL on the remote c ontrol to display t he correct m onth, t hen pr es s SET again. The day f lashes. 6. Repeat Step 5 to set the day , year , hour , and minute (t he TV/VCR automaticall y sets the da y of the week). Note: Y our TV/VCR uses a 12-hou r clock.
17 BASIC T V OPER A TION SELECTING CHANNELS To select a chan nel, press CH or CH . The tuner automaticall y advances to the nex t chan- nel stored in th e tuner’s mem ory. The selected channel num ber (or station n ame , if available) appears on the upper right part of t he screen for a few seconds.
18 4. Repeat edly press SEL or SEL to high- ligh t VI DE O ADJ US T. 5. P ress SET . A screen a ppears with t he cur- rent picture settings. 6. Repeat edly press SEL or SEL unt il the setting you want to adjust is highlighted , then press SET . A screen showing the cur- rently set adjustment for that setting appears.
19 BASIC VCR OP ERA TION LOADING A VIDEO T APE Hold the c assette with the main label fac ing up and the spine facing out from the TV/V CR. Then insert the casse tte into the cassett e compart- ment and gently push the center of i ts spine until the TV / VCR draws it in.

21 SPECIAL FUNCTIONS The following information d escribes some o f your TV/VCR’s special on-screen, displa y, and search func tions. THINGS YO U SEE Blue Screen The TV/VCR displays a b lue screen when y ou select the menu, play unrec orded port ions of a tape, or when y o u tune to a weak TV station.
22 USING ONE-MINUT E SKIP With this f ea ture, you can s k ip over unwanted portions of a r e cording suc h as c ommercia ls. While playing a tape, simply press ZERO/1MIN . The TV/VCR fast-forwards the tape, skipping over 60 seconds of recorded time. T hen norm al playback resume s.

27 IMMEDIA TE RECORDING Follow these steps to record a program wi t hou t setting an on or o ff time. 1. Insert a blank c assette, or one that y ou want to record over , into the cassette com- partment.

35 CLEANING THE VIDEO HEADS Dirty video heads cause the playback picture to bl u r, even i f t h e recorde d signal is cle ar. However, video head cleaning is a delicate operation that requires a t rained technician. F or m ore head cleaning information, contact your local RadioShack store.
36 ST ORING V I DEO CASSETTES Unles s you are making a t i mer rec ording, eject and stor e the cas sette when you finish using it . This helps protect the cassette and the TV /VC R’ s int er na l m ec han i sm s f ro m d ust . Place your video cas sette s in their protective boxe s and store them in a coo l, dry, dust - free environ- ment.
