Currently, it supports Netflix and VUDU, as well as in-home network media sharing via My Network which is capable of connecting w ith DLNA and SMB/CIFS clients .

INSTALLATION 25 Quick Start Guide Power On and Play The BDP-105 is pre-configure d w ith setting s that have been optimized for most home theater systems, so it can fit into your audio/video system without any ad ditional adjustment. To begin, please follow these steps: 1.

27 BASIC OPERATIONS Disc Playback OPEN POWER PLAY STOP 1 Press the POWER button to turn on the player. 2 Press the OPEN/CLOSE b utton to eject the disc tray. 3 Place the disc with the label side facing up and the recorded side facing down. 4 Press the OPEN/CLOSE b utton again to retract the tray.

BASIC OPERATIONS 29 Slow Playback PLAY PAUSE REV FWD To play the video in sl ow-motion, follow t hese steps: 1. Press the PAUSE button on the remote control to paus e playback. 2. Press the FWD butt on to select a forward slow playback speed. Each press of the FWD button increases the playback speed in the following increments: 1/16 1/8 1/4 1/2 3.
BASIC O PERATIONS 30 On-Screen Display 1. During the playback of a DVD or Blu-ray Disc, press the INFO button on the remote control to show its status information.
BASIC OPERATIONS 31 NOTE The volume level for the analog output and the headphone o utput are adjusted and saved separately. Depending on whether a headphone is connected or not, the BDP-105 can automatically apply the curr ent volume control setting to the head phone output or analog output.
BASIC O PERATIONS 32 Subtitle Selection SUBTITLE 1. When playing a DVD, Blu-ray Disc or other video programs recorded with subtitles, press the SUBTITLE butto n on the remote control to select the desired subtitle. 2. Repeatedly press the SUBTITLE button or use the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons to choos e from all available subtitles.
BASIC OPERATIONS 33 Audio Return Channel (ARC) Selection 1. When sending a digital audio signal from the TV back to the BDP-105 through an HDMI connection, press the INPUT button on the remote to bring the Input Source menu. 2. Use the UP/DOWN ARROW bu ttons to choo se the required ARC c hannel.
34 ADVANCED OPERATIONS Output Resolution RESOLUTION The BDP-105 supports multiple outpu t resolutions. For a detailed discussion on how to choo se the best output resolution, please refer to the Select the Best Output Resolu tion section on pag e 25 of this manual.

The Subtitle Shift feature can be used to shift subtitles up or down s o they are displaye d within the active video area.
ADVANCED OPERATIONS 38 Repeat a Selected Section AB REPLA Y To repeatedly play a specific section, please follo w these steps: 1. During normal playback, press the AB REPLAY button on the remote at th e desired beginning point (Point A) for th e repeat play.
ADVANCED OPERATIONS 39 Playback from a Specific Location DVD and Blu-ray Discs During the playback of a DVD or Blu-ray Disc, you may specify a location to start playback by entering th e title, chapter or time directly. Press the GOTO button to bring up the on-s creen display.
ADVANCED OPERATIONS 40 NOTE x Some discs may prohibit the search operation. You will not be able to select a search location, or you may get an “invalid operation” icon after s pecifying a search location. x Some Blu- ray Discs feature their own search function.
ADVANCED OPERATIONS 41 Memory and Automatic Resume POWER OPEN PLAY STOP 1. The player automatically saves the current position w hen playback is interrupted. Operations such as OPEN and P OWER cause the player to save the current playing position. 2. This position is saved even after tur ning off the unit or changing the disc.
ADVANCED OPERATIONS 42 NOTE x Pu re Audio mode is automatically canceled when the unit is switched off or when playback is stopped. x Because HDMI ca rries audio to gether with video, th e HDMI video signal cannot be comp letely turned off. A black screen is transmitted instead to minimize any potential interfer ence.
43 MEDIA FILE PLAYBACK In addition to playing standard disc-based formats such as Blu- ray, DVD, CD and SACD, the BDP-105 can play media files. You can enjoy digital music, movies and photos stored on a data disc (recordable CD, DVD or Blu-ray) or an external USB drive.
MEDIA FILE PLAYBACK 44 In-home Network Media Sharing The BDP-105 can remotely play back music, photo, and video files stored o n media devices that are connected to the same home net w ork.
MEDIA FILE PLAYBACK 45 Internet Streaming on HOME Menu The BDP-105 presents a Home Menu to assist you in navigating and playing media files fr om an inserted optical disc, USB flash drive, external hard drive, ho me network sharing and interne t streaming.
MEDIA FILE PLAYBACK 46 Playing Music Files To play digital music files stored on an optical disc or USB dr ive, select Music from the Home Menu . A file brow ser will appear to assis t you in navigating the files an d folders. The first step is to select the Data Disc or USB device that contains the mu sic files.
MEDIA FILE PLAYBACK 47 Shows playback status: P lay, Pause, Track and Time. Display and change playback mode: Shuffle/Random, Repeat One/All. Music information: Displays information like album art an d tags, either embedded in the original file or found online from the Gracenote database.
MEDIA FILE PLAYBACK 48 To stop the movie and return to the file browser, press the STOP button. You can also press the HOME button at any time to stop the playback and return to the Home Menu. Press the OPT ION button to access features such as Video Information, Subtitle Shift, Picture Adjustment and Picture Zooming.
MEDIA FILE PLAYBACK 49 x Change slideshow transition effect: YELLOW color button. x Press the OPTION button to access to features like Image Zooming and Image Rotation. Details can be found on page 27. Adding Background Music You can also add ba ckground music to the photo slideshow.
50 SETUP MENU OPTIONS The Setup Menu of the BPD-105 presents man y setup and configuration options. For most users, the default configuration w ill be sufficient and you will not require any changes to the settings.
SETUP M ENU OPTION S 51 NOTE It is possible that some setup items may be grayed-out and inaccessible. This can be caused by a dis c being pl ayed back or having chang ed a prerequisite setup ite m. Please stop playback or eject the disc before trying to ch ange these setup items.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 52 4. To select a value from the list of available settings, press the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons and then press the EN TER button to confirm. For example, to select Off for Auto Play Mode , use the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons to highlight the Off selection and press the ENTER butto n.
SETUP M ENU OPTION S 53 Playback Setup The Playback Setu p section is designed to configure playback prefere nces. The setup items in this section are: 1.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 54 DVD Ratings – Pres s the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons to select the rating to allow for DVDs. The available ratings are Kid, G , PG, PG-13, PGR, R, NC-17, Adult and Off. The selected rating and above will be blocked, and any rating below will be allowed.
SETUP M ENU OPTION S 55 Video Setup The Video Setup s ection of the Setup Menu allow s you to configure video output opt ions. 1. Picture Adjust ment : Adjusts picture control settings. The BDP-105 provides a w ide array of picture controls. Please refer to the Picture Adjustment section on page 58 for details about each control.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 56 4. 3D Setting : Adjusts the playback settings for better 3D visual quality. 2D->3D Depth – Adjusts the 3D depth perception w hen performing 2D-to-3D conversion (also called “simulated 3D”). The default value is 8. 3D TV Size – Allows you to enter the diagonal screen size of the 3D HDTV.
SETUP M ENU OPTION S 57 achieved by en abling 1080p24 Output for these discs. This option only applies to the HDMI output at 1080p resolution. The availa ble options are: x Auto (default) – Video encoded at a 24Hz frame rate will be output as 1080p 24Hz if the TV informs the player that it can su pport the 1080p24 signal.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 58 Angle Mark (On/Off) – Turns on/off the display of the angle icon when a DVD or Blu-ray Disc with multiple angles is played. Keeping the an gle mark off avoids distraction from normal movie watchi ng. Screen Saver – Allows you to turn on/off the scr een saver function.
SETUP ME NU OPTION S 59 Picture Adjustment Menu for HDMI 2 OU T To change a picture adjustment par ameter, use the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons to highlight the parameter, and use the LEFT/RI GHT ARROW buttons to change its value.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 60 in shadows when watching darker scenes. Televisions have brightness (black level) and contrast (white level) controls; however, it may require a combination of tweaking both the player and your television to get the optimal result.
SETUP M ENU OPTION S 61 At level 7, the player applies the most aggressive CAR for very l ow quality video, and adds Motion Adaptive VNR at leve l 8. Remember that excessive noise reduction may cause a loss of details.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 62 (10-bit per chann el) or 36-bit (12-bit per cha nnel) data. The increased bit depth should result in smoother color trans itions and better gr adients. 36 Bits – Uses the 36-bit per pixel Deep Color mode. 30 Bits (Dithered) – Uses the 30-bit per pixel Deep Color mode w ith dithering technique.
SETUP ME NU OPTION S 63 Audio Format Setup The Audio Format Setup se ction of the Setup Men u allows you to configure preferences for audio output formats. 1. Secondary Audio: Allows you to set the Secondary Audio Program mixing option. Some Blu-ray Discs contain a secondary audio and video program, such as a director’s commentary.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 64 with high sample rate (up to 192kHz) , or 8 channels o f audio with standard sample rate (up to 48kHz). If you play high resolutio n audio content at the 480p/576p resolution, you may get reduced audio resolu tion, incomplete audio cha nnels, or even no audio/video output at all.
SETUP M ENU OPTION S 65 x Off (d efault) – HDCD is treated a s regular CD. This is useful when the player is con nected to an HDCD-capable A/V receiver via a digital audio output link (Coaxial, Optical, or HDMI) so the A/V receiver can perform H DCD decoding.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 66 Audio Signal Reference Chart Blu-ray Discs may contain many types of audio signal formats , some of which are hi gh resolution types such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Blu-ray Discs also have many optional audio components such as the Secondary Audio Program and menu clicking sound.
SETUP M ENU OPTION S 67 Recommended Audio Format Options Depending on your specific au dio/video connection method, the audio format options of the BDP-1 05 may need to be adjusted to match your config uration. Refer to the video and audio connection methods described previously in t his guide and the foll owing audio setup guideli nes.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 68 Multi-Channel Analog Audio to Receiver If the player is connected to an A/V re ceiver through the 7.1ch or 5.1ch analog audio jacks using 8 or 6 RCA cables (as described on page 18), yo u can play all supported audio formats and listen to them with your A/V receiver and s urround sound systems.
SETUP ME NU OPTION S 69 Audio Processing Setup The Audio Processing sec tion of t he Setup Menu allows you to configure how the player w ill process audio signals before sendi ng them to the o utput.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 70 Down Mix Mode Downmixing is the proc ess of converting multi-channel audio to a lesser number of channels. For example, converting a 5.1ch source to stereo o r converting a 7.1ch source to 5.1ch. Downmixing allow s the audio output from the player to match the e xact number of speakers a vailable in your home theater.
SETUP ME NU OPTION S 71 Speaker Settings You can set the size, distance and trim level for each s peaker by using the LEFT/RIGHT ARROW buttons to move the cursor to highlight the speak er and then press the EN TER button. The Speaker Settings menu on the righ t side of the screen will be activated.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 72 Speaker distance compens ation is not required if the A/V receiver has t he capability to adjust channel delay and compensa te for speaker distance differ ences.

SETUP MENU OPT IONS 76 4. Remote Control Code: The BDP-105 c an respond to one of four s ets of remote control cod es. The default is “Code 1”. If you have other OP PO products in the vicinity of the BDP-105, the other products may res pond to the BDP-105 remote control.
SETUP M ENU OPTION S 77 6. Standby Mode : Allows you to choose betw een two standby modes. In Energy Efficient mode, the player consumes a minimal amount of pow er but takes more time to get ready for operatio n after being turned on.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 78 12. VUDU : Allows you to de-activate your VUDU HD Movies acc ount. 13. Reset Factory Defaults : To reset all settings to the factory default value. This operation also set BD-Live Network A ccess to be Off (details on page 79) and performs Erase Persistent Storage (details on page 78).
SETUP ME NU OPTION S 79 Network Setup The Network Setup section of the Setup Menu system allow s you to configure th e player’s netw ork connection, test the connection, and enable or disable BD-Live a ccess .
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 80 x Wireless – Connect to the inte rnet through the external wireless ad aptor. Please refer to the connection instructions on page 23. C hoosing Wireless w ill start the Wireless Setup Assistant , and w ill also make the Wireless Setting option in the next row selectable.
SETUP M ENU OPTION S 81 WPS – Starts the Wi-Fi Protected Setup. The BDP-105 supports the WPS standard to provide an easy and secure establishment of a wireless home netw ork. You may choose from the fo llowing setup options: PIN – Configures the WPS using a Personal Ident ification Number.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 82 9. Proxy Setting: Allows you to configure the proxy server settings . The proxy server works as an intermediary for netw ork communication between clients and other servers, w hich can provide benefits like security, anon ymity, or even circumvention of regional restrictions.
83 REFERENCES Useful Notes In order to p rolong the life of your player, it i s recommended that you wait at least 30 seconds before you pow er it on after switching it off. Remove discs and turn the power off after operation. Some functions of the player may not be applicable to certain discs.
