E n Integrated Amplifier A-933 Instruction Manual Thank you for purchasing an Onkyo Inte grated Ampli- fier . Please read this manual thoroughly before making connections and plugging in the unit.

3 Precautions 1. Recording Copyright —Unless it’ s for personal use only , recording copyrighted material is illegal with- out the permission of the copyright holder . 2. A C Fuse —The A C fuse inside the unit is not user- serviceable. If you cannot turn on the unit, contact your Onkyo dealer .

When set to ON, the A-933 can be set to On or Standby . B ST ANDBY/ON button (17) This button is used to set the A-933 to On or Standby .
7 Front & Rear P anels —Continued A Grounding terminal This terminal is for connecting a turntable’ s ground wire. B PHONO (MM) input This analog audio input is for connecting a turntable with a moving-magnet cartridge. C TUNER input This analog audio input is for connecting a tuner’ s analog audio output.
8 Remote Contr oller (RC-613S) For detailed information, refer to the pages in parenthe- ses. A ST ANDBY button (17) This button is used to set the A-933 to Standby . B ON button (17) This button is used to turn on the A-933. C Number buttons These buttons are used to enter track numbers.

10 Connecting the A-933 If you connect another component from the Onkyo Separate Collection to the A-933 with the appropriate and audio cables, you can use the following system functions. cables are special cables solely for use with Onk yo products. (No cables are supplied with the A-933.
11 Connecting the A-933 —Continued Speaker Connection Precautions Y ou can connect one or two sets of speakers (A/B) to the A-933, and select which set outputs sound, or use both sets at the same time. • Connecting one set of speakers (A or B): Only con- nect speakers with an impedance of 4 ohms or more but less than 16 ohms.
12 Connecting the A-933 —Continued Connecting the Speaker Cables The following illustration sho ws which speaker should be connected to each pair of terminals. Y ou can connect a subwoofer with a built-in po wer amplifier to the A-933’ s SUBW OOFER PREOUT jack.
13 Connecting the A-933 —Continued The A-933 can be used with the Onkyo Separate Collection C-733 CD Player and T -433 T uner as shown belo w . Connections • No cables are included with the A-933. Use the cables supplied with your other Onkyo Separate Collection components.
14 Connecting the A-933 —Continued Connecting a CD play er Use an analog audio cable to connect the A-933’ s CD L/R jacks to the analog audio output jacks on the CD player , as sho wn.
15 Connecting the A-933 —Continued Connecting a T urntable The A-933’ s PHONO input jacks are for use with mo v- ing-magnet (MM) type cartridges. Use an analog audio cable to connect the A-933’ s PHONO L/R jacks to the audio output jacks on the turn- table, as shown.
16 Connecting the A-933 —Continued Connecting Components W ith (Remote Interacti ve), you can control your -compatible Onkyo CD player , T uner , and so on with the A-933’ s remote controller . •T o use , y ou must make an analog audio con- nection between the A-933 and each audio compo- nent.
17 Enjo ying A udio Sources If the A-933 is connected to other components via , press the r emote controller’ s [ON] button once to turn on the A-933, and pr ess it again to turn on the other components.
18 Enjoying A udio Sources —Continued Muting the A-933 (remote controller onl y) Y ou can temporarily mute the output of the A-933. Using Headphones Y ou can connect a pair of stereo headphones (1/4-inch phone plug) to the A-933’ s PHONES jack for pri v ate listening.
19 Enjoying A udio Sources —Continued Y ou can use the A-933 as power amplifier with a sepa- rate preamp. See page 15 for connection information. Notes: •Y ou can record on a recorder that’ s connected to the MD OUT or T APE/CDR OUT L/R jacks. • The tone controls hav e no effect on the signal being recorded.
20 Tr oubleshooting If you hav e any trouble using the A-933, look for a solution here. If you can’ t resolve the issue yourself, contact your Onkyo dealer . Can’t turn on the A-933. • Make sure that the po wer cord is properly plugged into the wall outlet.
21 Tr oubleshooting —Continued Can’t record. • The component connected to the MAIN IN jacks cannot be recorded. • When using the A-933 as a power amplifier (MAIN IN function), recording is not possible. The V OLUME control doesn’t w ork. • When using the A-933 as a power amplifier (MAIN IN function), the V olume control has no effect.
