F an the paper to be loaded at the edges (1) and in the middle (2) to ensure that all sheets are properly separated, then tap the edges of the stack on a flat surface to make it flush again (3).

(Optional duplex unit must be installed for this function.) • Envelopes should be loaded fa ce up with top edge to the left and short edge into the printer .

24 – C610/C711 User’s Guide Operator Panel: _______________ 1. Ready LED ON: Rea d y t o receive data. BLINKING: Processing data. OFF: Offline. 2. Display Displays the printer status and any error messages. 3. Menu Scroll Buttons Enters the Menu mode.
25 – C610/C711 User’s Guide 5. Attention LED ON : A warning occurs. Printing may be possible (e.g low toner). BLINKING : An error occurs. Printing not possible (e.g. toner empty). OFF : Normal condition. 6. Back Button R eturns to the previous higher level menu item.
26 – C610/C711 User’s Guide How to Change the Settings: User ___ It should be noted that many of these settings can be, and often are, overridden by settings in the Windows printer drivers. However, several of the driver settings can be left at “Printer Setting”, which will then default to the settings entered in these printer menus.
27 – C610/C711 User’s Guide How to Change the Settings: Administrator __________________ You can set whether to ENABLE or DIS ABLE each catego ry in the user menu. Disabled categories are not disp layed in the User’s menu. Only a system administrator can change these settings.

65 – C610/C711 User’s Guide Print Statistics ITEM SETTINGS EXPLANATION Enter Passwo rd XXXX Enters a password to enter Print Statistics menu. The default value is "0000". The password for entry to Print Statistics is different from the password for entry to Functions-Admin Setup.
66 – C610/C711 User’s Guide Res et G r o u p Counter Execute Resets the group counter . When it executes, the following message appears. Are You Sure? Yes / No When No is selected, it returns to original menu indication. When Yes is selected, the group counter zero is cleared, the menu is passed through.

69 – C610/C711 User’s Guide Troubleshooting Provided that you follow the recommendations in this guide on the use of print media, and you keep the media in good condition prior to use, your printer should give years of reliable service. However, paper jams occasionally do occur, and this section explains how to clear them quickly and simply.

72 – C610/C711 User’s Guide Clearing Paper Jams 1. If a sheet is well advanced out of the top of the printer , simply grip it and pull gently to dr aw it fully out. If it does not remove easily , do not use excessive force. It can be removed from the rear later .

Look into the printer to check whether any sheets of paper are visible on any part of the belt unit. • T o remove a sheet with its leading edge at the front of the belt (a), carefully li ft the sheet from the belt and pull it forwards into the internal drum cavity and withdraw the sheet.

77 – C610/C711 User’s Guide (a) To remove a sheet i n the fu ser; push the two retaining levers (e) towards the rear of the printer to release the fuser. With draw the fus er unit using the h andle (f). Press release lever (g) and pull the trap ped paper from the fuser.

79 – C610/C711 User’s Guide 8. Starting with the cy an image drum unit nearest th e fuser , replace the four image drums into t he drum cavity , making sure to locate them in the correct order .
80 – C610/C711 User’s Guide 9. Lower the top cover but do not press down to latch it closed yet. This will protect the drum s from excessive exposure to room lighting while you check the remaining areas for jammed sheets. 10. Open the re ar exit tray (h) and check for a sheet of paper in the rear path area (i).

Pull out the paper tray and ensu re that all paper is stacked properly , is undamaged, and that the paper guides are properly positioned against the edges of the paper stack. 84 – C610/C711 User’s Guide Toner Cartridge Replacement _____ Have a sheet of paper handy so that you have somewhere to place the used cartridge while yo u install the new one. Dispose of the old cartridge responsibly, inside the pack that the new one came in.
85 – C610/C711 User’s Guide 1. Press the cover release and op en the printer’s top cov er fully . 2. Note the positions of the four cartridges. WARNING If the printer has been po wered on, the fuser may be hot. This area is clearly labelled. Do not touch.
86 – C610/C711 User’s Guide (a) Pull the colored toner release lever on the cartridge to be replaced fully towards th e front of the printer. (b) Lift the right-hand end of the cartridge and then draw the cartridge to the right to release the left-hand end as shown, and withdraw the toner cartridge out of the printer.
87 – C610/C711 User’s Guide 5. R emove the new cartridge from its box but leave its wr apping material in place for the moment. 6. Gently shake the new cartridge from end to end sever al times to loosen and distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.
88 – C610/C711 User’s Guide 9. Insert the left end of the cart ridge into the top of the image drum unit first, pushing it ag ainst the spring on the drum unit, then lower the right end of the cartridge down onto the image drum unit.
89 – C610/C711 User’s Guide 11. Gently wipe the LED head surface with a clean, lint free cloth. 12. Finally , close the top cover and press down firmly at both sides so that the cover latches closed.
90 – C610/C711 User’s Guide Image Drum Replacement. ________ The printer contains four image drums: cyan, magenta, yellow and black. 1. Press the cover release and op en the printer’s top cov er fully . CAUTION! Static sensitive devices, handle with care.

92 – C610/C711 User’s Guide 3. Holding it by its top centre, lift the image drum, complete with its toner cartridge, up and out of the printer . 4. Put the assembly down gently onto a piece of paper to prevent toner from marking yo ur furniture and to avoid damaging the green drum surface.
93 – C610/C711 User’s Guide 5. With the colored toner release lever (1) to the right, pull the lever towa rds you. This will release the bond between the toner cartridge and the image drum unit.
94 – C610/C711 User’s Guide 8. Place the toner cartridge onto the new image drum cartridge as shown. Push the lef t end in first, and then lower the right end in. (It is not necessa ry to fi t a new toner cartridge at this time unless the remaining toner level is v ery low .

Holding the complete assembly by its top center , lower it into place in the printer , locating the pegs at each end into their slots in the sides of the printer cavity . 11. Finally , close the top cover and press down firmly at both sides so that the cover latches closed.
96 – C610/C711 User’s Guide Replacing the Transfer Belt Unit ____ The belt unit is located under the four image drums. Switch off the printer and allow the fuser to cool for about 10 minutes before opening the cover. 1. Press the cover release and op en the printer’s top cov er fully .
97 – C610/C711 User’s Guide 3. Lift each of the image drum uni ts out of the printer and place them in a safe place aw ay from di rect sources of heat and light. CAUTION! The green image d rum surface at the ba se of each cartridge is very delicate and light sensitive.
98 – C610/C711 User’s Guide 4. Locate the two fasteners (a) at each side of the belt and the lifting bar (b) at the front end. 5. T urn the two fasteners 90° to the left.
