C5100 Loading Paper • 19 Loading P aper T RAYS 1 AND 2 1. Remove the p aper tray from the printer . NOT E If you have the optional second pap er tray installed: • If you are printing fr om the 1st ( upper) tray , you can pull out the 2nd (lower ) tray and reload it while the print e r is printing.
C5100 Loading Paper • 20 2. Fan the pape r to be loaded at the edges ( 1 ) and in th e middle ( 2 ), then tap the ed ges of the stac k on a flat surface to make it flush again ( 3 ). 3. Load pa per print side down, ma king sure the rear stopper ( 1 ) an d paper guides ( 2 ) are snug against the p aper .

Capacity depends on the type of p aper stock. • Do not load damaged p aper . • Do not load paper of differen t sizes or types at the same time.

C5100: Color Printing • 56 Color Printing The printer driver supplie d with this printer provides seve ral controls for changing the color output of yo ur printer. For gener al use the Au to settings will suffice, providing reas onable default settings that will produce good r esults for most documents.
C5100: Color Printing • 57 Viewing conditi o ns A print can look very different under diffe rent lighting conditions. For example, the colors in a print may look different when viewed standing next to a sunlit window, compared to how they look under standard office fluo rescent lighting.
C5100: Color Printing • 58 How Y our Software Applicati on Displays Color Some graphics applications such as Core lDRAW ® or Adobe ® Photoshop ® may display color differently from "office" applications such as Microsoft ® Word. Please see your applicat ion’s on-line help or user manual for more information .
C5100: Color Printing • 59 C HOOSING A C OLOR M ATCHING M ETHOD There is no correct way to achieve a good match betwee n the document displa yed on your moni tor, and its printed equivalent. There are many factors involved in achie ving accurate and reproducible color.
C5100: Color Printing • 60 Matching Photographic Images RGB only Oki Color Matching is a generally a go od choice. Select a matching method appropria te to your monitor .
C5100: Color Printing • 61 C OLOR M ATCHING Color Matching Options The Color Matching options in the driver ca n be used to help match your printed colors to the one s displayed on your monitor. The driver color matching options are found on the Color ta b in the driver: NOT E The driver’s color options ar e only designed to work with RGB data.

The Color tab screen will change to: Choose from the following options: • Monitor (6500k ) Perceptual Optimized for printing daylight photo graphs. • Monitor (650 0k) V ivid Optimized for printing bright colors.

C5100: Menu Functions • 83 DRUM CLEANING OF F ON If you are experiencing horizontal white lines on your printed pages, enter the menu and temporarily change this setting to ON, then send a one page print job. This will cause an extra blank sheet to print, cleaning the drum prior to printing.

This is particularly useful if you do not have a full set of re placement consumables on hand and you need to know how soon you will need them.

Pull the colored ton er release lev er on the cartridg e to be replaced (here we ar e showing replacement of the black toner cartridge) toward s the front of the printer . 4. Lift the ri ght-hand end of the cartridge and then pull the cartridge to the right to release the lef t -hand end as shown.
C5100 Replacing Consumables • 90 5. Unpack the new tone r cartridge and gently shake it fr om side to side to loosen and distribute th e toner evenly inside th e cartridge.
C5100 Replacing Consumables • 91 7. Holding the cartridge by it s top center with the colored release lever to the ri ght, insert the left end of the cartridge into the top of the image drum, push ing it firmly against the spring o n the drum unit.
C5100 Replacing Consumables • 92 8. Lower the right end of the cartr idge into the image dr um unit, pressing it firmly down in p lace, then push the colored lock lever back to open the toner slot and lock it in place. Import ant! The lever should move easily.
