1 Prepare the Print er 1. First: • T ur n of f the printer ( 1 ). • Unplug the power c ord ( 2 ). • Detach the interfac e cable—USB, parallel, or Ethernet—from the ba ck of the printer ( 3 ).

6 4. Mount the HDD: place the HDD in the slots on the bracket, then push the handle against the HDD to lock it in place..
7 Complet e the Installation 1. Replace the side panel on the printer and secure it in place with the thumbscrew . 2. Close the front cover and the top cov er .
8 Check for Proper Installation Generate a MenuMap printout: 1. Press + one or more times until INFORMA TION MENU appears on the display . 2. Press ENTER twice. The MenuMap prints. 3. Check the top sect ion of the MenuMap printout to verify that it show s “HDD: installed.
9 Activat e the Hard Disk in the Print Driver W indows ® Po stscript Emulation Driver , C53 00 / C5400n 1. Click Start → Settings → Printers [Printers and Fax es for XP]. 2. Right click the Postscript emulation printer icon, then click Properties.
