6 Installing the driver for windows 98 SE If your compute r is running Wi ndows ME/2000/XP/ Vista, no driver is r equired to inst all. If your co mputer is runn ing Windows 98 SE, y ou must install th e driver pr ovided on the CD before conne cting the playe r to your computer .
7 y It is only in this configura tion that the Media Transport Protocol mode (MTP mode) is available. The player is recogni zed as an “Au dio Player” and f ollowing is displa yed: T o switch from the MTP mode to MSC mode, press the [ ] button on the player.
8 Loading files to the pl ayer T o download the fil es from your comput er, perform the following step s: Files th at are not copy-prot ected 1. Open the Window s Explorer or My comput er . “Removable Di sk” (MSC mode ) or “Audio Pl ayer” (MTP mode) is di splayed.
9 Disconnecting the USB cable MSC MODE After completing the file trans fer , please disconnect the USB cab le as the following way : 1 Double click the gre en arrow “Safety Remo ve Hardware” i n the taskbar on t he bottom right of t he window. 2 Select “USB Device ” and click “Sto p”.
10 Charging the battery Preparation: The battery of the player is charging automatically whe n the player is connected to the computer . Make sure th e computer is tu r ned on. The battery of the pl ayer is 80-pe rcent charged in a bout three hour s and fully char ged in about fi ve hours.
11 Basic Operation Turning on/off the player y T o turn on the player, press the [ MENU ] button. y T o turn o ff the pla yer , press and hold the [ MENU ] bu tton for two seconds . Adjusting the volume Press the [ S ] button to increase the volume. Pres s the [ T ] button to decrease the volume.

13 Listening to Music Turning on and playing 1. Make sure tha t the battery is enough an d the earphone is connecte d correctly . 2. Press the [ MENU ] butt on to turn on the pla yer. The DISPLAY l ights up. The MP3 play er enters Main menu wit h Music option selecte d by default .
14 Pausing playback While a song is pl aying, press the [ ] button to pa use the playba ck. T o resume the play back, press t he [ ] button once again. Skipping tracks y Press the [ W ] button to skip to the previous tr ack. y Press the [ X ] button to skip to the next track.
15 Using the music menu The music menu allows y ou to manage all facto rs of listeni ng, such as repeat ing tracks, sel ecting equal izers, and so on. Note: T o exit the menu, p res s the [ MENU ] or [ W ] button. T o set play mode The play mode setting enable s you to sele ct a play mode to enjoy the music in desir ed order .
16 T o set eq ualizer The equalizer sett ing enables yo u to select an equ alizer from the six pr eset equalize r settings to suit the type of audio outp u t or customize y our person al equalizer effect. 1. Press the [ MENU ] button while listening to the music.
17 T o set 3D e f fect 1. Press the [ MENU ] button while listening to the music. The music menu appears on the screen. 2. Use the [ S ] or [ T ] button to sele ct 3D , and press the [ X ] button. The 3D menu appea rs on the scree n. 3. Use the [ S ] or [ T ] button to sele ct On or Off .
18 T o naviga te music files 1. Press the [ MENU ] button while listening to the music. The music menu ap pears on the screen 2. Use the [ S ] or [ T ] button to sele ct File , and press the [ X ] button. The music fil e list appears on the screen. 3.
19 Listening to the FM Radio Important : Always connect your earphon es to the earph one jack, since t he earphone cable serves as antenna for the i nternal radi o. 1. Press and hold the [ ] button to en ter the main menu . 2. Select the FM Radio usin g the [ W ] or [ X ] button and pres s the [ ] button to enter the FM Radi o mode.
20 Changing search mode Scan mode Select this mode if you want to ma nually search o ne frequency thr ough the FM b and at a time. Preset mo de Select this mode if you want to searc h one preset cha nnel through the FM b and at a time. Press the [ ] button repeatedly t o switch between t he Preset and Scan mode.
21 Manually searching and storing st ations The manual search enables you only t o store the d esired station s. 1. In Scan mode, press the [ W ] or [ X ] button to change th e frequency (fine-tune ). If you press and h old [ W ] or [ X ] button for approx.
22 Deleting preset stations 1. Press the [ MENU ] button to open the FM Rad io sub-menu while listening to the FM radio. 2. Use the [ S ] or [ T ] button to sele ct Delete and pres s the [ X ] button.
23 FM recording Y ou can record t he FM Radio program at any time while list ening to the FM radio. 1. Press the [ MENU ] button to open the FM Rad io sub-menu. 2. Use the [ S ] or [ T ] button to sele ct Record and press the [ X ] button to start record.
24 Voice Recording and Playing In V oice mode, you can activ ate the voic e recording with in tegrated mic rophone and play back the recorded files , e.g. radio o r voice record ings. Listening to the recording s All recordings c an be played in t he voice mode.
25 The recorded voice fi les are saved in the MICI N.DIR folder of the MP3 pl ayer as WAV files (fo rmat: MIC00001.WAV, MIC00002.WAV). 4. Press the [ ] but ton to start playi ng the recorde d files or pres s and hold the [ ] button to exit the voice mode.
26 Viewing Picture This player suppo rts the playback of pictures in f ormats of JPEG and BMP . 1. Press and hold the [ ] button to en ter the main menu . 2. Use the [ W ] or [ X ] button to sele ct Photo and press the [ ] button. The pictur e list appears on t he screen.
27 Watching Video This player suppo rts the playback of videos in MTV format . 1. Press and hold the [ ] button to en ter the main menu . 2. Use the [ W ] or [ X ] button to sele ct Movie and press the [ ] button. The video li st appears on the s creen.
28 Deleting files In the Delete mode, you c an delete the fi les stored on yo ur player without a c omputer. 1. Press and hold the [ ] button to en ter the main menu . 2. Use the [ W ] or [ X ] button to sele ct Delete and press the [ ] button. The file list appe ars on the scree n.
29 Reading E-book This player only s upports the pl ayback of fil es in TXT format. Other form ats must be saved as TXT format before transf er. 1. Press and hold the [ ] b u t t o n t o e n t e r t h e m a i n m e n u . 2. Use the [ W ] or [ X ] button to sele ct E-Book and press th e [ ] button.
30 Settings The unit settings can be customi zed by acces sing the Setti ngs Menu. The S ettings Menu c onsists of several items whe re various f unctions ca n be selected concerning ti me, power, language, display , recording, system, etc.
31 Setting USB mode y MSC mode: Media Storage Clas s mode, which is used to tra nsfer files betw een the player and your c omputer using Windows Explore r . y MTP mode: Media Transport Protocol mod e, which is suppo rted by Window s Media Player 10 or a bove, and use d to synchronize DRM -protected f iles by Windows Me dia Player 10 or a bove.
32 Setting power y Auto off: T o set the auto of f time. The available opti ons include: 15 mi nutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minute s, 120 minutes and Di sable. y Always on Ye s : The player will be always on while playing. Howev er , it will turn off automati cally in any other mode if no button is pressed fo r the set time.
33 Setting display y Backlight: T o set the LCD of f time. The b acklight will be of f after the set time if no button is p ressed. Note: The backlight will never turn off when viewin g picture, reading E-book or watching a video. System tools y Delete: T o delete a file in the file list.
34 Hold time y T o specify the key locked time . The keys will be locked a fter the set time if n o button is pre ssed. If the key lo ck function is activated, the “Key locked” message will be displayed o n the screen when any butto n is pressed. T o deactivate the ke y lock, press an d hold the [ ] for approx .
35 Converting Video to MTV Format This play er supports the playback of videos in MTV format. Ot he r formats (A VI, WMV , MEPG1, Quic k Time, MPEG2, Re alMedia, MPEG4, 3GP) must be converted to MTV format. Th e “MTVVideo Conv erter” is su pplied on the CD to enable you to convert the oth er formats to MTV for ma t.

39 Listening Cautions Do not play your headphones or earp hones at a high volume. Hearing experts advise against con t inuous extended play. If you experience a ringing in your ear s, reduce vo lume or discontinue use. Do not use while operating a motorized v ehicle.
