Introduction The NETGEAR ® P roS afe 8-P or t Gigabit E thernet Switch M odel GS108A pro vides you with a low-cost, r eliable, high-performance switch to connect up to eight different Ethernet-enabled devices (such as computers, file servers and routers) at blazing Gigabit Ethernet speeds.
Unpack the Bo x and V erify the Contents When you open the box, verify that you r eceived everything. The package includes: • P roSafe 8-P ort Gigabit Ethernet S witch GS108A • AC pow er adapter .
Prepare to Install the Switch Decide where you want to place the switch. F ind a flat horizontal sur face — such as a table, desk or shelf. The switch comes with wall-mounting screws. Y ou ’ re welcome to use the screws if you want to hang the switch in an open space on a wall.
Install the Switch and Connect the Other De vices 1. Place the switch on a flat surface or hook onto the screws. 2. F or each device, insert one end of an Ethernet cable into the port in the device and insert the other end into one of the Ethernet ports on the switch.
T roub leshooting The P ower light is not lit The switch has no power . • Make sure the po wer cord is properly connected to the switch. • Make sure the po wer adapter is properly connected to a functioning pow er outlet. If it’ s in a power strip , make sure the power strip is turned on.
