5 2I n s t a l l a t i o n Installation Location Place the charg er on a flat, e ven surface. Do n ot install the charger , handset and accessories in the proximity of : • W ater , moisture or damp areas. • Sources of heat, direct sunlight or unventilated a reas.
6 Note: if the batter ies are in serted incorr ectly , the handset will not function , and may be damaged. Installing the Charger T o operate the cha rger a mains conn ection is required.
7 3 Important Battery Information Note: use only r echargable AAA NiMh battery of typical 800 mAh, 1.2 V . Never use a battery wh ich is damaged or wor n out.
8 4 Charging the Batteries Initial Setup and Operation Charge the batterie s approximately 6 to 7 hours before initial use of the handset. Th is protective meas ure extends the ser- vice life of the b atteries. The maximum po wer output is on ly attained after t hree to five charging and disc ha rging cycles.
9 Battery Capacity Icon When batteries ar e r eplaced, no icon will be displayed befor e a complete ch arge cycle has been com pleted, ex cept when almost empty batt eries ar e inser ted in the phone, th en the icon will be shown immediately . When the batte ry capacity icon is d isplayed the ind ication is reliable.
10 5 Initial Setup and Operation The handset c an be opera ted on up t o 10 different DECT sys- tems. T o do so, it ha s to be registered to each DECT system. Handset Registration Register the h andset on the DECT system as describe d in ”Menu: System”.

13 Text Lines/ Softkey Line In the top line of the display , information is given concerning the current status of the telephone during a ca ll or in stan dby mode. When using the m enus, this line d isplays an addi tional line of text co ntaining the na me of the active menu.
14 7 Softkeys and the Cancel Key The Softkeys Softkey: Arrow Keys Symbols are displayed above the arrow keys which identify the respective functionality of the arr ow keys : E If a continuous t ext is displayed (e .g. a message ), the text can be scrolled up / down via th e arrow keys.

16 8 Calling Handset On/ Off The handset c an be switch ed off by pressing C for mor e than 1 second when it is in an idle state. Th e handset is switched on by pressin g C for more than 1 second or by placing t he hand- set in the charger .
17 Making a Call Note: In pre-dialling, if the input cursor is po sitioned behi nd the telephone n umber , the numbe r to be ch ained will be suffixed to that telephone number . If the input cursor is at any ot her point, the number to be ch ained will be prefixed to the telephone number .
18 Making a Call from the Last Number Redial List Redail Selection: Press the D -softkey and t he n one of the arrow keys (several t imes if necessary) with the handset in an idle state. The last 30 pho ne num - bers dialed ar e then displ ayed. The beginning / end of the number redial list is marked by a dashed line.
19 Making a Call from the Telephone Book Making a Call from the Caller List The handset st ores the phone numbe rs of the last 20 ca llers in the caller list (depen de nt on the tra nsm issio n of the pho ne number).
20 Making a SOS-call This handset can be use d to send emergen cy calls to a certain telephone nu mber . T he number an d the text messa ge is stored in the menu ”T elephone Option”. T o make the emergency call pr ess the SOS-/ r -key for longer than 2 second s.
21 Enquiry Call/ Call Transfer Dur ing a connect ion another part y can be consulted ( enquiry call). r holds the first ca ll. Now dial the o ther phone num ber . Press r again to switch bac k to the first caller (press r to speak alter nately with the other parties).
22 9 Messages * This handset can be used to send and receive text messages. A diff erentiation is ma de between urgent and norm al messages which are signalled in different ways on the handset. Every message is sto red in a list which c an contain up to 10 entr ies.
23 Receipt confirmation Y ou ha ve to confir m the receipt of an urgent messa ge. When an urgent message is not confirmed with in 60 seconds, the ini- tiator wil l be signalled the me ssage has not been received suc- cessfully .
24 10 Message waiting indication for Voice Mail * When the user ha s a message in his voice mail box, the C icon appears on the display (when in idle mode) and th e i-key starts flashing.
25 11 The Menus: Operating Procedures In this and subsequent sections, all fea tures are activated via the softkey Menu . The individual o perating seque nces are shown in short fo rm, and then a short discriptio n follows.
26 12 Menu: Telephone Book Settings At least 100 phone num bers and na mes can b e stored in the telephone book and the n ames ar e sort ed alph abetically , ther e- fore the telephone book offers an alph abetic search function .
27 Entering Characters/ Names The following cha ra ct er s can be entered by pressing the key- pad keys several times. The entry position is automatically advanced if no entries are made for a short while or a new character is entered. Pressing the * -key switch es from capi- tals to non-ca pit als and the same acti on switches back.
28 Quick Call Activate an entry in the tele phone boo k and then se lect Quick Call from the Options menu. Key in a one-digit num- ber from 1 to 9 as your q uick call number and confirm your selection by pr essing OK . Note: quick call num bers can o nly be al located once .
29 13 Menu: Redial List In the idle state, press the D -softkey and then on e of the arrow keys (several times if necessary). Y ou will see the la st 30 inter - nal and exter na l parties d ialled (telephon e number o r name). Dialing: Dial the phone num ber by pressing A .
30 14 Menu: Key Lock Key Lock On Off The keypad can be locked to prevent any ac cidental operat ion: press the Menu softkey , select Key Lock via the arrow keys and confirm by pr essing OK . A lock icon is then shown in th e bottom l eft-hand corner of the display .
31 15 Menu: Caller List Accepted and Missed Calls Ac cepted and m issed calls wit h a transmitte d phone numb er , are enter ed into the caller list. A missed call is a call which has not been a nswered and has bee n alerted fo r at least 10 sec- onds.
32 16 Menu: Messages * Y our ha ndset can be u sed to send and receive text messag es. These messag es can be sto red in a list with up to 10 entries. There are normal and urgent messag es which are signalled to the recipient in different ways.

34 17 Menu: Ringer Settings A different melody can be set for every type of call (inter nal, exter nal, unkno wn number , VIP , normal m essage, urge nt mes- sage, emer gency call and alarm ca ll). National anthems first lines are integrated in the handset a nd they are selected in th e ringer settin gs by choosing one of the numbers shown below .

37 19 Menu: Caller Filter Via the caller filter it is possib le to blo ck or receive incom ing calls if the cal ling phone n umber is stor ed in th e caller f ilter . The phone number s i n question have to be st ored ahe ad to the caller filter , b efore it is possible to use th e filter functi ons.

39 20 Menu: System Registration Code The hand set can be operated w ith a maximu m of 10 DECT systems. Before you can make a call via the DECT system, the handset has to be re gistered to the r espective system. A sys- tem ID and r egist ration code ma y be nece ssary for t he r egi stra- tion process.

44 22 Menu: Security Functions The security fun ctions are protected by a PIN code (4 dig its). The PIN entry is o nly necessary when r ead only is sw itched on. In the delivery stat e the PIN is set to 0 0 0 0. F or additional security , **** is displayed when entering the PIN.
