Any exposure to light should be avoided and li mi ted to less than two minutes, or permanent damage cou ld result.

Attention If you have installed a duplex unit, it must be opened be fore the printer ’ s top cover . Attention Opening the front cover pulls the toner cartridges forward slightly to make room for the OPC belt cartridge.

The number of sheets in the tray exceeds the maximum allowed. Remove the excess media and reload the cor- rect number of sheets in the tray .
Solving Other Problems 84 Solving Other Problems Symptom Cause Solution Data was sent to the printer , but it doesn’t print. An error message is displayed in the message window . Handle according to the message displayed. A PS error occurred. If a PS error occurs, contact T echnical Support with the error information.
Solving Other Problems 85 Printing takes too much time. The printer is set to a slow printing (Thick Stock) mode (for example, for OHP or some other special kind of media). It takes more time to print with special media in Thick Mode. When using regular paper , make sure that the media type is set to Auto- matic in the driver .
Solving Other Problems 86 OPC belt cartridge cannot be removed. The printer ’s front cover is not opened and the lock levers have not been set cor- rectly . Open the printer ’s front cov er and set the lock levers to the correct open position. T ext appears fuzzy or unclear .

Solving Problems with Printing Quality 89 There is insufficient fusing or the image comes off when rubbed. The media is moist from humidity . Remove the moist media and replace it with new , dry media. Media with speci f ica - tions not covered by the printer warranty is being used.
Solving Problems with Printing Quality 90 Back- ground is foggy . The toner cartridge is defective. Remove the toner cartridge and check fo r damage. If necessary , replace it. The OPC belt cartridge is damaged. Remove the OPC belt cartridge and check for damage.
Solving Problems with Printing Quality 91 Dark tones are uneven. The tone r in the toner cartridges is uneven. Remove the toner cartridges and gently rock them five or six times to redistribute the toner . Then, reinstall the cartridges. The OPC belt cartridge is damaged.
Solving Problems with Printing Quality 92 There are toner smudges on the back side of the page (whether or not it has been duplexed). The paper transport rollers may be dirty . Clean the paper transport, pressure, and fuse r oil rollers. Check the transport roller for damage.
Solving Problems with Printing Quality 93 Image defects cyclical (evenly spaced). Lateral image de fects have 1–2 mm spacing. Clean the laser lens cover . Lateral image de fects have 35 mm spacing. The toner cartridge is damaged. Replace the color toner cartri dge.
Solving Problems with Printing Quality 94 Lateral (horizon- tal) lines or bands appear on image. The printer is not on a level enough surface. Le ve l the printer (not exceeding 1.5° slant). The media path is dirty with t oner . Print several sheets and the excess toner should disappear .
Solving Problems with Printing Quality 95 Ve r t i c a l streaking appears. The laser lens cover may be dirty . Check to see if the laser lens cover is dirty . If necessary , clean it with a clean soft cloth. The corona wire inside the OPC belt cartridge may be dirty .
Solving Problems with Printing Quality 96 Colors are not regis- tering prop- erly; colors are mixed or have page-to- page varia- tion. The front cover may not be properly close d . Make sure that the printer’s front cover is closed. The OPC belt cartridge is not pushed all the way in.

Status, Error, and Service Messages 99 BELT CARTRIDGE MISINSTALLED The OPC belt cartridge is either mi ssing or incorrectly installed. Make sure that an OPC belt cartridge is cor- rectly installed. CANCEL ALL JOBS The Canc el key has been pressed, and one or more of the print jobs in the print queue are being canceled.
Status, Error, and Service Messages 100 DRUM JAM Media has jammed in the drum area. Locate a nd remove the jam. DSK TOO SMALL ACC NOT ENABLED There is not enough space in the hard disk to create th e accounti ng file. Remove unnecessary files stored in the hard disk.
Status, Error, and Service Messages 101 <x> DOOR OPEN The specified cover is open and must be closed. Close the cover . FUSER JAM Media has jammed leav- ing the fuser area. Locate and remove the jam. FUSER MISINSTALLED The fu ser is not full y seated.
Status, Error, and Service Messages 102 MEDIA MISMATCH The media detected in the tray doesn’t match the media size setting. Change the media in the tray or change the media size setting . MISFEED JAM Media has jammed between the print eng ine and the input tray .
Status, Error, and Service Messages 103 PUT < X > IN INPUT < Y > The < X > specified media is not in the input tray < Y > . Refill the tra y wi th the specified type media. PUT < SIZE> PAPER IN < INPUTBIN> BIN The Operator Control/ Chain Inputbins is set to Off and the displayed tray is empty .
Status, Error, and Service Messages 104 WAITING FOR IDLE An active job is in pro- cess. Access to the menu is not allowed until the job is finished. W ait until the print job is finished and the printer goes idle. WARMING UP The printer is warming up.
