Console Management Page 5-22 Enabling/Disabling a Port The enabling or disabling of a port is a manual operation that can be used to isolate netw ork devices possibl y causing problems on the netw ork or to pr event unauthorized use of a port or station.
Configure Port Parameters Page 5-23 Configuring Auto-Negotiation A uto-negotiation is an optional f eature of the Fast Ethernet standard that allows two devices on a common segment to communicate their capabilities, allowing the devices to determine their highest common speed and best communication parameters.

Y ou can use RMON via the switc h’ s Local Management Inter- face or via any SNMP-based network management software that supports RMON.
