7 OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS A. Controls 1. Engine Ignition and Star t Switch: (See Figure 1. ) Located on the instr ument hous ing below the righ t side of th e operator’ s seat. When the key is inser t ed an d tur ned clockwise, 45 degrees, the ignitio n circu it is cl osed.

11 c. If th e dimens ion at the f ront of the mowing de ck is 1/8"-1/ 4" lower than th e dimensi on at the rea r of the de ck on each si de of the mower , do not adjus t. If not, you will need to adj ust the De ck Lift Spring As sist (See Fi gure 5) .
12 e. Push the throttle c ontrol to a posit ion a third o f the way between slow and f ast. f . Inser t the key in the ignit ion and s tar t switch and tur n the s witch to “On”. g. Gasoline Engin e: If the eng ine is cold, pu sh the ch oke to the on pos ition.
13 i. T o tur n, pu ll the lev er back on the side to which you want to tur n. The far ther ba ck y ou p ull the le ver , the faster and more sha r ply you will tur n. Ini tially , you will hav e to be care- ful to avoid turn ing to fast and t oo f ar .
14 e. Remov e six linchpins (See Fi g. 6) (4) f rom the d eck and (2) from the f ront of the mower . Rem ov e the linchpi ns on the left and r ight rear si de of the c utter deck (2); r emov e the linchpi ns on the left an d right f ront sid e of the cutter de ck (2); and r emov e t he linchpin s on th e front of the mower (2).

16 4. Changing the Spindle Assembly a. Jac k up the front o f the mowing deck about one foot an d bloc k it in tha t posi- tion. b . Make sure the blade clutch i s dise n- gaged. c. Rem ov e the deck cover . d. Rem o v e the driv e belts . (See 3. C hang- ing Bl ade Dri ve Belt s.

19 5. Jump Star ting W arning: Failure to use this s tarti ng proced ure can cause sp arking, and the g ases in th e batter y to expl ode . a. Attach the end of the red jumpe r cable to the P ositive ter mi- nal (+) o f the char ged batter y .

Swing o ne steer ing l e ver up to the operati ng position a nd the e ngine sh ould stop. If the engin e does not stop, the par king brake switch must be repositio ned or replac ed.

23 Note: If you wish to move the mowe r by pushin g, you must rele ase the dynamic b rak- ing. Lo cate the levers at th e rear of the m ower . Pull both levers out an d lock in pos ition. Aft er pushi ng the mower to the desir ed loca tion, retu rn bot h lev ers to the o pera ting posit ion (See ph oto at rig ht).

26 G. Stora ge 1. Gene ral : If y our mower will not be in ser vice for a f e w months, it should be s tored in a dr y locati on that is no t subjec t to drastic changes in tempera ture. Before stor ing, t he follo wing mainte nance proc edures shoul d be pe rf or med.
