VR182 3 DISC NOTES Depending on the recording status, conditions of the disc, and the equipment used for recording, some CD-Rs/CD-RWs may not play on this unit. For more reliable playback, please adhere to the following recommendations: • Use CD-RWs with speed 1x to 4x and write with speed 1x to 2x.
VR182 4 INSTALLATION Before You Begin 1. Disconnect Battery Before you begin, always disconnect the battery negative terminal. 2. Remove T ransport Screws and discard. Important Notes • Before final installation, test the wiring co nnections to make sure the unit is connected properly and the system works.
VR182 5 Ford Vehicle Mount 1. Remove the mounting sleeve (see step 1 of “DIN Fron t Mount” on page 4). The mounting sleeve is not used in this application. 2. Use the supplied mounting screw and the rear installation bracket to secure the unit in place.
VR182 6 WIRING Power Antenna Connect to power antenna or amplifier . If not used, tape bare end of wire. CD Changer Connector Antenna Connection 0.5A FUSE 15A FUSE (RED WIRE) (YELLOW WIRE) (YELLOW WIRE) Aux-In RCA Connections IR Remote Connector iPOD Connector Chassis Ground Connect to ground terminal or clean unpainted metal part of chassis.
VR182 7 BASIC OPERATION Power On/Off Press any button (except the eject button (23)) to turn the unit ON. Press the VOLUME/ON/ OFF button (1) to turn the unit OFF . Volume Control T o increase the volume, rotate the volume control (1) clockwise. T o decrease the volume, rotate the volume contr o l c ounter clockwise.
VR182 8 System Menu 1. Press and hold the MENU/AUDIO button (3) for more than 3 seconds to enter the system menu. 2. Rotate the VOLUME control (1) to highlight the desired item. 3. Press the VOLUME button (1) to select the highlighted item. 4. Rotate the VOLUME control to select a value.
VR182 9 T UNER OPER ATION Select a Band Press the BAND button (16) on th e control panel to change between two FM bands and one AM band. In Sirius Satellite Radio, WB, CD, CDC, AUX IN or IPOD mode, press the BAND button to automatically switch to radio mode.
VR182 10 CD/MP3/WMA OPERATION Inserting and Eje cting a Disc Insert a disc, label-side up, into the disc slot (24) with th e unit turned on. The unit will automatically draw the disc in and play the first track on the d isc. Press the eject button (23) to stop disc play and eject the disc.
VR182 11 SIRIUS RADIO OPERATION Switching to SIRIUS Mode Press the MODE button (4) to change th e mode to Sirius Satellite Radio mode. Activating Sirius Satellite Radio In Sirius mode, press and hold the S-MOD button (22) to select DIRECT mode. The LCD will display “DIRECT _ _ _” upon entry .
VR182 12 IPOD OPER ATION If AUTO IPOD “ON” is selected in the system menu, your iPod will play automatically when connected to the unit. “IPOD” will appear in the upper left corner of the display . If AUTO IPOD “OFF” is selected in the system menu, your iPod will not play automatically when connected.
VR182 13 CD CHANGER OPERATION After an optional CD changer has been instal led and properly connected, p ress the reset button (1 1) to initialize the in stallation. Refer to the owner ’s manual included with the CD changer for instructions on installin g , loading and using the CD magazine.
VR182 14 REMOTE CONTROLLER S Steering Wheel Remote (SOLD SEPARATELY) Installing the Steering Wheel Remote Use the mounting bracket to attach the remote control to the steering wheel: 1. Use the screwdriver to remove the two screws on the bottom of the mounting cabinet and remove the cabinet.
