2 TABLE OF CONTENTS FINDING MODEL NUMBER This Operator’s Manual is an import ant part of your new lawn mower. It will help you asse mble, prepare and maintain the unit fo r best performance.

4 16. Home circuit – This mower should be o perated on a 15 AMP circuit. If you experience di fficulty in starting with a standard 15 AMP fuse or circu it breaker, contact your nearest authorized service fa cility. Do not use a higher rated fuse or breaker with out consulting your power company.

6 SECTION 2: SLOPE GAUGE Use this page as a guide to de termine slopes where you may not operate saf ely. Do not operate your lawn mower on such sl opes.

8 Also, be certain the sm aller front wheels and the larger rear wheels ar e mounted correctly to the front and rear of the mower as sh own in Figure 1. Figure 1 Assembling Handle Installing the Lower Handles (Hardware A) • Insert long end of th e lower handle into the handle base.
9 • On the left side, install the lock wash er and hex nut and tighten fin ger tight. • On the right side, insert the hex bolt into the hex hole in the cord insulator. Install the lock wash er and thread the hex nut onto the hex bolt. Make certain that th e curved portion of the cord insu lator is resting flush against th e upper handle.
10 Assembling Grass Catcher WARNING: Never operate the mower without the proper trail shield, discharge cover, grass catcher, blade/motor control o r other safety protective devices in place a nd working. Never operate the mower with damaged sa fety devices.
11 SECTION 5: KNOW YOUR LAWN MOWER Figure 9 Read this operat or’s manual and safety rules before operating your lawn mower. Compare the illu stration in Figure 9 with your lawn mowe r to familiarize yourself with the location of various parts and contro ls.

13 Stopping the Motor and Blade WARNING: The blade continues to rotate for a few seconds after the motor is shut off. If the motor does not come to a stop when the motor/b lade control handle is released, contact an authorized service dealer.
14 • Repeat this proc edure for all whee ls, being certain to mount them all in the same position at each corner. Failing to do this will produce an uneven cut. Resetting the Circuit Br eaker The mower is equipped with a circuit breaker, located on the motor/blad e control assembly as shown in Figure 11.
15 Sharpening the Blade To sharpen t he blade, first remo ve the blade as outlined in the previous se ction. DO NOT attemp t to sharpen the blade while it is attached to the mower . The blade can be sharpened with a file or on a grinding wheel. • When sharpening the blade, follow the o riginal angle of grind as a gu ide.
