4 Slope Operation Slopes are a major factor related to slip and fall accidents which can result in severe injury. Operati on on slopes requires extra caution. If you feel uneasy on a slope, do not mow it. For your safety, use the slope gauge included as part of this manual to measure slopes before operating this unit on a sloped or hill y area.
5 SECTION 2: SLOPE GAUGE Use this page as a guide to determine slopes where you may no t operate safely. Do not operate your lawn mower on such sl opes.
6 SECTION 3: SETTING UP IMPOR T ANT : This unit is ship ped witho ut gasoline or oil in the engine. Fill up gasoline and oil as instructed in the a ccompanying engine manual before operating your mower. Spark Plug Wire 1. Disconnect spark plu g wire from the spar k plug, and groun d it against the engine .
7 Starter Rope 1. The starter rope is attached to the engi ne. Additional rope may be wound aroun d the starter handle. If so, unwind the rope from the handle. 2. With the spark plu g wire disconnected and grou nded, depress the bl ade control han dle and pull the rope out of the engine.
8 IInstalling Rear Wheels • Place the rear of the mower de ck on raised blocks. • Remove lock nut from pi vot arm assembly, slide wheel, with hollow side in, on to axle an d secure with lock nut.
9 Starting Engine • If your unit is equipped with a primer, prime engine as instructed in the separate en gine manual packed with your un it. • Standing behind th e unit, depress the blade control handle and ho ld it against the upper handle as shown in Figure 10.
10 SECTION 5: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS Cutting Height Each wheel has a heigh t adjustment lever to change the cutt ing height of the mower. 1. To change the height of cut, squeeze ad juster lever toward th e wheel, moving up or down to selected he ight. NOTE: All wheels must be in the same height of cut.
11 SECTION 6: MAINTAINING YOUR LAWN MOWER General Recommendations • Always observe safety ru les when performing any mainte nance. • The warranty on th is lawn mower does not cove r items that have been subjecte d to operator abuse or negligence.
12 Blade Care and Replacement Periodically inspect the blade ad apter for cracks, especially if you strike a foreign obje ct. Replace when necessary. Follow the steps below for blad e service: • Disconnec t spark plug wire from spark plug. • Tip mower as specified in separate eng ine manual.
13 SECTION 7: TROUBLESHOOTING NOTE: For repairs beyond the minor ad justments listed above, contact an auth orized service dealer. Pr oblem Cause Engine fails to star t 1. Blade control handle disengaged. 2. Spark plug wire disconnected. 3. Fuel tank empty or stale fuel.

14 • Basculez la tondeuse selon les instructions dans la notice d’utilisation. S’il n’y a pas d’instructions spécifiques, basculez la to ndeuse avec le filtre à air et le carburateur sur le haut. • Enlevez le boulon et le support de la lame qui maintiennent la lame et l’ada ptateur sur le vilebrequin.
13 Lubrification Poignée de commande de la lame • Lubrifiez les points d e pivot de la poignée de commande de la lame au moins une fois par saison avec une huile légère. La co mmande de la lame doit fonctionner facilement da ns les deux sens. Voir la F igure 13.
12 CHAPITRE 5: RÉGLAGES AVERTISSEMENT: Arrête z toujours le moteur et débra nchez le fil de la bougie et mettez-le à la masse contre le moteur avan t d’effectuer un réglage. Réglage de la hauteur de coupe Un levier de régla ge se trouve sur chac une des roues et permet de modifi er la hauteur de coupe de la tondeuse.
11 Mise en marche du moteur AVERTISSEMENT: Assurez-vous que seul le conducteur se trouve à proximité d e la tondeuse au moment de sa mise en rout e ou pendant son utilisation.
10 CHAPITRE 4: UTILISATION Commandes Poignée de commande de la lame La poignée de commande de la lame se trouve sur le guidon supérieur de la t ondeuse. Voir la Figure 9. Il faut serrer cett e poignée contre le guidon p our que la tondeuse fonctionne.
9 Installation des roues avant • Relevez l'avant du plateau de coupe avec de s cales. • Retirez le contre-écrou d e la tige de pivotement, faites glisser la roue sur la tige et replacez le con tre-écrou. Voir la Fig ure 7. • Installez l'autre roue de la même f açon.
8 Installation de la corde du démar reur 1. La corde du démar reur est attaché au mot eur. Une longueur supp lémentaire de corde peut êt re enroulée autour de la poignée du démarreur. Dans ce cas, déroulez-la. 2. Débranchez le fil de la bougie et mett ez-le à la terre.
7 CHAPITRE 3: INSTALLATION Fil de la bougie 1. Débranchez le fil de la bougie et mett ez le à la masse contre le moteur. 2. Si le moteur est équipé d’une g aine en caoutchouc, attachez celle-ci à un boulon du moteur p our mettre à la terre. Voir la Figure 1.
6 UN POTEAU ÉLECTRIQUE LE COIN D’UN BÂTIMENT Ne vous tondez pas sur des pentes supérieures à 15° (soi t une déclivité d e 2-1/2 pi pa r 10 pi). Un tracteur à siège ri sque en e ffet de se retourner et son conducteur peut être grave ment blessé.
