3 SECTION 1: IMPORTANT SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES General Practices 1. Read, understand, and follow all instructi ons on the machine and in the manual(s) before attempti ng to assemble and ope rate. Keep this manual in a safe place for future and regular re ference and for o rdering replacement parts.
4 Operation 1. Before starting th is machine, review the “Safety Instructions”. Failure to foll ow these rules may result in serious injury to the operator or bystanders. 2. Never leave this machi ne unattended with the en gine running. 3. Do not ope rate machine while u nder the infl uence of alcohol, drugs, o r medication.
5 SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR LOG SPLITTER Unpacking from Cr ate • Pry top, sid es, and en ds off the crate. Set pan els aside to avoid tire punct ure or personal injury. • Remove and discard plastic ba g that covers unit. • Remove any loose par ts if included with unit (i.
6 • Disconnect the lo g cradle from the beam on th e side of the control valve. See Figure 4. Figure 4 • Lift and slid e the cylinder up to the top of beam and into the weld brackets. • Attach the dislodger over the wedge assembly and secure with hard ware, previous ly removed, to the weld brackets.
7 SECTION 3: KNOW YOUR LOG SPLITTER Compare the illustration in Fi gure 7 below with the controls on your log splitter, and get familiar with its features before start ing to operate. Know how to stop t he machine quickly in the event of an em ergency.
8 SECTION 4: OPERATING YOUR LOG SPLITTER Gas and Oil Fill-Up • Service the engine with gasoline an d oil as instructed in the en gine manual packed with your log splitter. Read in structions carefully. IMPORT ANT : Your log splitter is shippe d with motor oil in the engi ne.
9 • To lock the beam in th e vertical position, pull out on the vertical beam lock and rotate it to secur e the beam. See Figure 7. • Stand in fron t of the unit to operate the control handle and to stabilize th e log. See Figure 8A. Figure 8 Horizontal Position • Pull the vertical beam lock out and rotate it down.
10 NOTE: Use caution when backing up. It is recommended to use a spotter outside the vehicle. SECTION 5: ADJUSTING YOUR LOG SPLITTER We d g e A s s e m b l y As normal wear occurs and there i s excess.
11 • Maintain flu id level at all times wit hin the range specified on the dipstick, or within 3- 3.5” from top edge of the pipe . • Change the hydr aulic fluid in the reservoir every 100 hours of ope ration. • Disconnect the suction ho se from the bottom of the reservoir tank and dra in the fluid into a suitable container.
12 SECTION 7: STORING YOUR LOG SPLITTER Prepare your log splitter for st orage at the end of the season or if the log splitter will not be used for 30 days or more. • Clean the log splitter thor oughly. NOTE: We do not recommend the use of pressure washers or garden hose to clea n your unit.
