4 18. If the equipment should start to vibrate abnormally, stop the engine and check imm ediately for the cause. Vibration is genera lly a warning of trouble. 19. Shut the engine off and wait until the blade comes to a complete stop before removing the grass catcher or unclogging the chute.
5 General Service: 1. Never run an engine indoors or in a poorly ventilated area. Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an odorless and deadly gas. 2. Before cleaning, repa iring, or inspecting, make certain the blade and all mo ving parts have stopped.
6 SECTION 2: SLOPE GAUGE Use this page as a guide to determi ne slopes where you may not operate safely. Do not operate your lawn mower on such sl opes.
7 SECTION 3: ASSEMBLING YOUR LAWN MOWER IMPORT ANT : This unit is shipped wit hout gasoline or oil in the engine. Be cer tain to service engine wi th gasoline and oil as instructed in th e separate engine manual before op erating y our mower. NOTE: Reference to right or left hand side of the mower is observed from the operatin g position.
8 Installing Front Wheels • Place the front of the mower deck on raised blocks. • Remove lock nut from pivot arm assembly, slide wheel onto pivot arm assemb ly and secure with lock nut. See Figure 6. • Assemble the other sid e in the same manner.
9 IMPORT ANT : This unit is shipped without gasoline or oil in the engine. Be cer tain to service engine wi th gasoline and oil as instructed in the separate engine manual before operating your mower. 10 • Your lawn mower may be equipped with a constant speed throttle, which is set at full throttle f or best performance. • Stand behind the mower and squeeze the bla de control handle against the uppe r handle.
11 SECTION 7: MAINTAINING YOUR LAWN MOWER General Recommendations • Always observe safety rules when performing any maintenance. • The warranty on this lawn mower does not cover items that have been subjected to operato r abuse or negligence.
12 Maintenance NOTE: When tipping the unit or emptying the fuel tank keep the air cleaner side of engine u p. Never tip the mower more than 90 deg rees and do not leave the mower tipped for any length of time . Oil can d rain into the upper part of the engine causing a star ting problem.
