7 SECTION 3: ASSEMBLING YOUR LAWN MOWER Removing Unit From Carton • Remov e staples , break g lue on top fl aps or cu t tape at carton en d and peel top fla p to open car ton. • Remov e loose par ts if incl uded with uni t. • Cut cor ners and lay carto n down flat .
8 • Insert post of cab le ties that ar e on lower ha ndle into the ho les prov ided on the lo wer hand le. The holes may be on th e inside or outside. Pu ll cable ties tight an d cut off the extra. 10 Blade Control Handle The blade contr ol handle is located on the upp er handle of the mowe r. The blade co ntrol hand le must be depress ed in order to op erate the uni t.
11 Operat ing Y our Lawn Mower • Once the engine has s tarted, squ eeze the bla de control handle agai nst the upper h andle to run the lawn mow er. • Do not operate the mower witho ut the mulchi ng cove r, the grass c atcher bag , or the dischar ge chute proper ly in stalled.
12 SECTION 6: MAINTAINI N G YOUR LAWN MOWER Cleaning the Lawn Mow er • Clean unde rside of the mower deck afte r each use to prev ent any build- up of grass. If this debris accumul ates, i t will caus e rust and co rrosion. NOTE: W e do not r ecommen d the u se of pr essure washers o r ga rden ho se to clean your u nit.
13 SECTION 7: SERVICING YOUR MOW ER Blade Care Periodic ally ins pect the blad e adapter and pulley for cracks, espe cially if you strike a forei gn ob ject. Rep lace when neces sary. • Discon nect spar k plug wire fr om spark plug . • Turn mower on its side making sure that the air filter and the ca rburetor are up .
14 Replacing Rear Flap • To rem ove re ar flap , cut of f the flat end of t he wire rod which secur es it to the dec k. See Figure 15 . • Attach the new flap and new rod to de ck, ben ding the ends of the new r od ove r to s ecure to deck .
15 SECTION 9: OFF-SEASON STORAGE Prepare your lawn m ower for stor age at t he end of the season or if the unit will not be use d for 30 days or more. Store th e mower in a clean , dry area . Gasoline • Do not st ore gasolin e from one sea son to another .
