8 Removing Chute Retainer (Models 080 S eries) The chute deflector on yo ur mowe r is held in an upr ight position by a reta iner for sh ipping pur pose s only . Remove the r etaine r by following the steps below, before runni ng the mowe r for the first time .
9 Figure 8 Recoil Starter The recoil starter is attached to the right low er hand le. Stand be hind the unit and pull th e reco il starter to s tart the unit. See Figur e 8. Cutting Height Adjustment Lever These le vers ar e locat ed on each whee l and t hey are used to adju st the cut ting hei ght.
10 Gas and Oil Fill-Up Servi ce the engin e with gaso line and oil as instru cted in the separ ate engin e manual pac ked with your mower. Read ins truc tio ns caref ull y. WARNING: Never fill fuel tank indoors with engine running or until the engine has been all owed to cool for at least two minutes after running.
11 Handle Height Adjustment Fig ure 10 Your mower is shipp ed with the handle i n the higher height pos ition. To lower the heig ht proceed as follows : • Remo ve th e star ter ro pe fr om th e rope guid e. • Discon nect the hand le from the handle bracket assembl ies by remov ing the wing nu ts.
12 Lubrication WARNING: Always stop engine, discon- nect spark plug, and ground a gainst engine before c leaning, lubricating or doing any kind of maintenance on your machine. 13 The blade can be tested by balan cing it on a ro und shaft screwdr iver. Remove metal from the heavy side until it bal ances eve nly. It is rec ommend ed that the blade always be removed from the adapte r when testing for bal ance.
