1. INTRODUCTION Congratulations! Y our new M&K THX speaker system will giv e y ou years of unmatched enjo yment and e xcitement while listening to your f av orite musical and audio/video sources.
Y ou can place your speak ers vir tually anywhere in the room, b ut cer tain locations are better than others . In general, locate them a wa y from obstructions that would interf ere with the direct path from the speak ers to your ears (such as walls , furniture, lighting, plants, etc.
5. OPTIMIZING SPEAKER PLA CEMENT The sound quality produced by y our speak ers can be significantly enhanced by careful attention to their placement. Y ou will get the maximum retur n in sound quality f or your inv estment b y f ollowing these guidelines as closely as possible .
SPECIAL NO TE: For the S-250, locate the speakers awa y fr om reflecting surfaces near to the sides of the speaker cabinet. This includes side walls, the sides of entertainment centers, other furniture, etc. The S-250 will sound and perform at its optimum le vel when mounted to M&K speaker stands and located out in the r oom.
6. SPEAKER PLA CEMENT IN A HOME A UDIO SYSTEM Placement is ve r y impor tant. Y ou should take at least the same amount of time and care in setting up your M&K speakers as y ou would with the most e xotic high-end stereo system.
7. USE OF THE "NORMAL"/"SPECIAL" INPUT SELECTION SWITCH (S-5000 ONL Y) The "NORMAL"/"SPECIAL" Input Selection Switch, f ound on the back panel of the S-5000, allo ws f or greater fle xibility in the use and installation of the S-5000 speaker .

10. SPEAKER D AMA GE & HO W T O A V OID IT An impor tant f actor to consider with an y loudspeak er system is the potential for speaker damage . Even though your speak ers ha v e e xtremely high pow er handling ability , they still can be damaged b y relativ ely low po wered amplifiers.
SPECIA NOTE FOR MOUNTING THE S-5000 WITH AN M&K W ALL BRACKET : T o properly wall mount the S-5000 speak er , y ou will need to use M&K’ s ST -W ALL TIL T 5000 brac ket (instead of the standard ST -W all Tilt brac ket). Due to the weight of the S-5000 speaker , use e xtreme caution when mounting the speaker to the w all.
