GB - 5 1. Da nger! 2. Da nger! EMISSION CONTROL SYS TEM This equipment and/or its engine may include exhaust and evaporat ive emissions control system components required to meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agenc y (EP A) and/or California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations.
GB - 6 Oper ation Do not operate t he engine in a confined space where dangerous c arbon monoxide fumes can collect. Breathing exhaust fumes can be fat al. Edge only in daylight or in good artificial light. Always be sure of your footing on slopes. Walk, never run.

GB - 9 CONTROLS AND FEA TURES See Figure 4 for all controls and f eatures locations. Oper ator Pr esen ce Contr ol Perform the f ollowing tests to ensure the safety interlock system is working properly . If the unit does not perform as stat ed contact your Ariens dealer for repairs.
GB - 10 Cutting Angle Ad juster (Figure 7) Controls the cutting angle of the blade for decorative edging. 1. Push the lever forward to unlock the head and then rotate it left or right to set the desired edging angle. NOTE: The head pivots from about 70 degrees to 180 degrees.
GB - 11 Engine Controls Throttle (Figure 9) Throttle controls engine speed. 1. Set the throttle to slow (turtle) to st art the unit and when traveling bet ween work areas. 2. Set the throttle to fast (rabbit) when edging. Choke Controls the air-f uel mixture in the carbur etor .
GB - 12 Oil Drain Plug (Figure 10) Oil drain plug provides a convenient location to drain oil. 1. Place a pan under the opening in t he unit frame, remove the plug, remove the oil fill cap/dip stick and allow the oil to drain completely . 2. Replace the plug and then fill engine with appropriate engine oil for your conditions.

GB - 15 Blade Change (Figure 1 1) 1. Stop engine, wait for all moving p arts to stop and hot parts to cool. Mak e sure the engine shut off switch i s in the off position. 2. Block the blade with a wooden block. 3. Remove the mounting hardware and blade from the unit.

Mak e sure the engine shut off switch i s in the off position. 2. Place an appropriate pa n under the oil drain opening, and remove oil drain plug from engine.
