Description of the mach ine The G 77 83 CD is a front-loading aut o- matic machine fo r the efficient washing - neutralisin g - rinsing - final rinsin g of labora tory glasswar e. It can be oper - ated on normal water supply . Th ere ar e "AD" (aqua dest illata) programmes with final ri nses using p urified wate r (dis- tilled, R.
Setting th e water soften er T o avoid the build-up of calcium de- posits on g lasswar e and in the machi ne the water ne eds to be softene d, wher e the suppl y har dness ex ceeds 1 07 ppm, (6°d). T o ensu re a steady supply of soft water the water softener unit mus t always be: 1.
Setting th e water soften er If the wa ter har dness in your a re a is permanently below 107 ppm (6°d): Select sett ing "0". The control light k will no t come on a nd the wate r softene r does not need to be r e- generated. Reactivating the water softener , see page 29.
Opening and c losing the door T o open the door a Pre ss the r elease catch as far as it will go and, at the same ti me, grasp the door grip and open the door . The door sho uld only be opened dur- ing operation for emergencies: e.g. if articles are knocking together (see in- terrup ting a pr ogra mme).
Applications and loading This labora tory glasswasher normally requires a top and a bottom bask et. Dependin g on the typ e and shap e of the glasswar e, inser ts can b e supplied and the re is a range of other ba skets for spe cial applications .

Applications and loading the machine Adjusting the top basket Adjusta ble top bas kets can be used in this machine, They can be adjusted up or down by 2 cm from the middle posi- tion set on deliv ery . The top basket w ill accommodate: V essels and gl asswar e up to 1 9 cm in height.
Rinsing agent A liquid storage container in corporated in the doo r has a capacity o f approxi- mately 200 ml. The required amount of appropriate liquid rinsing agent (e.g. Mielclear , in those countries w here available), is dispensed autom atically from this container .
Adding neut ralising agent and (liqu id) detergent Adding neutralising ag ent T o reduce the pH to neutral after alkaline cleaning, special neutralising acids can be used in programme stage 4. Im po r t an t "Special functions" must first be used to set the programme to dis- pense neutralising agent in stage 4, in- stead of rinsing agent.

Switching the machine on and off c DR YING The additional programme "DR YING" can be selec ted for 10 minutes steps up to a total of 80 minutes imme diately after the sele ction of a cleaning pro- gramme except for (exce pt A "COLD").

Programming special functions The followin g special func tions can be programmed wher e appropriate: 1. S etting water inl et to level plus time contr ol inste ad of timed inlet (60 secs). If the inlet water pr essure is lo wer than 2.5 bar , too lit tle water will flow int o the wash cabinet .

Reactiva ting the water softe ner When the k indicator light on the left hand side of the control panel co mes on during a programme the built-in water sof tener is depl eted and cannot supply an y mor e softe ned water . It must ther efore be r e activa ted with dish- washer salt as soon as th e pr o- gramme has fin ished.
P osition the salt container as f ollows: Remove th e bottom b asket fr om the machine. Unscr ew the pl astic cap i n the ba se of the wa sh cabi net. Place the salt container on the reacti- vation so cket and scr ew firmly into place. Switch on the machine Open the stopcocks if previously closed.
Cleaning and c are Cleaning the filters in the water cabinet The filter combination in t he base of t he cabinet sh ould be inspected regularly and cleaned if ne cessar y . Caution! W atch out fo r glass splinte rs which could cause injur y . Cleaning the coarse filter Press the 2 lugs t ogether , remove and clean t he filter .
Cleaning and c are Cleaning the filters in the water inlet For the protection of t he inlet va lve(s), filters are incorporated in the screw connecti on of th e water inlet h ose. The filters must be cleaned w hen dirty , otherwise in suffi cient water fl ows into the wash ca binet.
Dry ing unit (T A ) cleaning and c are Changing the C oarse Filter The coarse filte r should be change d when it is soiled or aft er approx. 100 operating hou rs, (see tim e counter on the T A unit ). Grip the inlet gr ille to the right and the left and pull up out of th e re- tainers and the n downwar ds and of f.
Correcting minor faults With the aid of the followin g explana - tor y notes, mino r faults can usu ally be corrected without contacting th e Miele Service Department. Any work o n the elect rical components of the machine should on ly be carried out by a suitably qualified and compe- tent pe rson.
Install ation Please refer to the Insta ll ation diag- ram supplied with the m achine. The machine must be ins talled cor- rectly and levelled. Any unevenness in the floor level can be compensat ed by adjusting the scr ew feet on th e right an d left h and sides at the front of the machine.
Install ation Open the door . Through each of the two holes in the front rim, left and right, scr ew the machine to the fr ont edge of the continuo us worktop. Do not use s ilicone sealant to seal the gaps be tween the ma chine and any neighbou ring units as this would hinder v entilation to the circulation pump.
Electrical conne ction All electrical connection w ork must be carried out by a qu alified electrician in compliance with loca l and national regula tions. Connection should be made v ia a suitable is olator , with an on -off switch which sh ould be eas ily access ible for servicin g.
Electrical conne ction Remove t he plastic protective cap. T o re-assembl e: Refit plas tic protective cap, cov er plate and serv ice panel in the re verse or der to wh ich they were removed. Make cer tain that the ear th lead is reconnected. Consult the Inst allation Ins tructions sup- plied.
Plumbing Connection to the water inlet The machine must be con nected to the water supply in accordance wit h the local and nati onal regulations, (NWC in GB). The machine is construct ed to com- ply with DV GW regula tions, in such a way th at an ext ernal non retur n valve is not required.
Plumbing AD connection to purified water , pressu rised , (1.5 - 10 bar) The machine is delivered from the fac- tory ready for connection to a press- urised system , 1.5 - 10 bar . The AD pr essur e tested hose, marked H 2 O pur e, with 3/4" thr ead must be conn ected to th e on-site A D stopcock for puri fied water .
Plumbing Drainage The drai nage syste m is fitted wi th a non-retur n valve which prevents dirty water from flowing back into the ma- chine via the drain hose. The machine should preferably be connected to a separate draina ge system on site. If no separate drain- age system is ava ilable, seek pr ofes- sional advice.
Caring fo r the envir onment Disposal of th e packing material The trans port an d protective packing has been selec ted from materials which are environment ally friendly for disposal an d can no rmally be recycled. Rather than just throwing these ma- terials awa y , please ensure they are of- fered for recycling.
