W arning and Safety instructions 6 T echnical safety Unauthorised installation, maintenance and r epairs can cause consider able danger for the user . Installation, maintenance and repairs must only be carried out by a Miele authorised t echnician.
W arning and Safety instructions 7 F or safety r easons, this appliance may only be used after it has been built in. The cooker hood must not be used in a non-stationary location (e.g. on a ship). T ampering with electrical connections or components and mechanical parts is highly dangerous t o the user and can cause oper ational faults.

W arning and Safety instructions 10 Correct use Never use a naked flame beneath the cooker hood. T o avoid the danger of fire, do not flambé or grill over a nak ed flame. When switched on, the cooker hood could dr aw flames into the filter . F at deposits could ignite, presenting a fir e hazard.
W arning and Safety instructions 11 Do not use the cooker hood without the filters in place. This way you will avoid the risk of grease and dirt getting int o the appliance and hindering its smooth oper ation. There is a risk of fir e if the cooker hood is not cleaned as described in these oper ating instructions.
W arning and Safety instructions 12 If exhaust air is t o be extr acted into a chimney or ventilation duct no longer used for other purposes, seek professional advice. Cleaning and care Do not use a steam cleaning appliance t o clean this appliance.
Caring for the envir onment 13 Disposal of the packing material The packaging is designed to pr otect the appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging mat erials used are select ed from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
Modes of operation 14 Depending on the model of the cooker hood, the following options are available: Extraction mode The air is drawn in and cleaned by the grease filt ers and directed outside. Non-return flap The non-return flap is designed t o prevent the e xchange of r oom and outside air taking place.
Modes of operation 15 Con@ctivity 2.0 function Automatic contr ol The cooker hood has a communication facility which enables the automatic operation of the cook er hood depending on the operational stat e of the hob. T o make use of the communication facility the hob must be fitted with a Con@ctivity 2.

Operation (Aut omatic mode) 18 When Con@ctivity 2.0 is activated, the cooker hood always works in automatic mode (see "Activating Con@ctivity 2.0"). T o operat e the cooker hood manually, see "Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0". Cooking with Con@ctivity 2.
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 19 Cooking process If for example you switch on a cooking zone at the highest power level to heat a pan for frying and reduce the power level aft er approx. 60 to 90 seconds*, a cooking pr ocess is recognised (*60 seconds t o 5 minutes for a HiLight hob).
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 20 Leaving aut omatic mode temporarily T o leave automatic mode tempor arily during cooking: Manually select a different power level, or Manually switch the cooker hood off, or Activate the cooker hood run-on option .
Operation (Manual mode) 21 Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0 (Manual mode) The cooker hood can be oper ated manually if: – Con@ctivity 2.0 is not activated. – Y ou have tempor arily deactivated Con@ctivity 2.0 (see "Leaving automatic mode tempor arily").
Operation (Manual mode) 22 Selecting the power level F or light to heavy cooking vapours and odours, select from power levels 1 t o 3 . When frying or cooking food with a very strong ar oma, select the Intensive setting IS . F or a lower power level, press the " " control, or " " for a higher level.
Operation (Manual mode) 23 The next time you switch the cooker hood on the deflector plate will come back out again correctly . Dimming/switching the hob lighting on/off The hob lighting can be switched on and off and dimmed regar dless of whether the deflector plate is e xtended or retr acted.
Operation (Manual mode) 24 Switching P ower management on/off Y ou can deactivate P ower management. This can however result in incr eased electricity consumption. Switch off the cooker hood. The deflector plate must be r etract ed. Remove the grease filt ers.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 25 Operating hours count ers The number of hours the appliance has been in operation is st ored in memory . When the Grease filt er symbol or the Charcoal filt er symbol lights up, the operating hours count ers are signalling that the filters need to be cleaned or changed.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 26 Activating and altering the charcoal filter operating hours count er In recir culation mode the operating hours counter for the char coal filters needs to be activated once and the operating hours count er needs to be set to suit the kind of cooking you do.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 27 Reading the filter operating hours counter T o check the percentage of time set already used Use the On/Off control t o switch the fan on. Pr ess and hold the operating hours control – Once, to r ead the Grease filter operating hours.
Energy saving tips 28 This cooker hood oper ates very efficiently and economically . The following will help you to save even more ener gy when using it: – Ensure that ther e is sufficient ventilation in the kitchen when cooking.
Cleaning and care 29 Casing General information The surfaces and controls ar e susceptible to scr atches and abrasion. Please observe the following cleaning instructions. All ext ernal surfaces and controls can be cleaned using hot water with a small amount of washing-up liquid applied with a well wrung-out soft sponge or cloth.
Cleaning and care 30 Grease filters The re-usable metal gr ease filters in the appliance remove solid particles (grease, dust, etc.) fr om the kitchen vapours, preventing soiling of the cooker hood.
Cleaning and care 31 Cleaning the grease filters by hand Clean the filters with a soft nylon brush in a mild solution of hot water and a small amount of washing-up liquid. Do not use "neat" washing up liquid. Unsuitable cleaning agents Unsuitable cleaning agents can cause damage to the surface of the filters if used regularly .
Cleaning and care 32 Resetting the grease filter oper ating hours counter After cleaning, the oper ating hours counter needs to be r e-set. Whilst the fan is switched on, press the operating hours contr ol for appro x. 3 seconds, until only the 1 is flashing.
Cleaning and care 33 When to change the charcoal filters Always replace the char coal filters when they no longer absorb kitchen odours effectively . They should, however be replaced at least every 6 months. The charcoal filt er operating hours symbol will light up to r emind you to change the charcoal filt ers.
Cleaning and care 34 Remote control Cleaning the remote control Only clean the surface with a damp cloth. Do not use too much water t o avoid moisture penetr ating the casing. Changing the battery Use only the type of battery listed. Do not use rechar geable batteries.

Installation 38 Safety distance between hob and cooker hood (S) When planning the installation height of your cooker hood, the minimum safety distance between the top of a cooker or hob and the bott om of the cooker hood is as follows, unless a great er distance is specified by the manufacturer of your cooking appliance.
Installation 39 Installation recommendations – T o achieve optimum vapour extr action, the cooker hood must cover the hob. It should be positioned centrally over the hob, not to the side of it. – The hob should be no wider than the cooker hood, and if possible, it should be narrower .

Installation 41 a 1 collar for exhaust ducting 150 mm. b 1 reducing collar for e xhaust ducting 125 mm. c 1 non-return flap for fitting into the exhaust socket on the mot or unit (not needed for recir culation mode) d 2 covers for the brack ets.

Installation 43 Repositioning the ducting The motor unit can be r otated to allow the ducting to be fitted at the back of the cooker hood. This may be necessary if the cooker hood is being fitted in a r educed height wall unit, for example. Repositioning is carried out before installing the cooker hood.
Installation 44 Pull the gr ease filters out of the slots in the front of the cooker hood housing. The spacer strip needs to be attached to the back of the cooker hood housing before the cooker hood is installed in the wall unit. The spacer strip can be attached to the upper or lower edge of the deflector plate.
Installation 45 Screw the br ackets onto the right and left inside walls of the housing unit so that they are flush with the bott om edges of the unit. The brack ets are designed for 16 and 19 mm thick unit sides. Orientate the br acket so that the vertical depth matches the thickness of the unit side, as shown.
Installation 46 F or safety reasons it is essential that the cooker hood is only fitted int o a wall unit which is already installed. It cannot be fitted into the wall unit before the wall unit is installed. Fit the cooker hood into the wall unit from below .
Installation 47 Tighten the four fixing screws fr om below. When fitting a 900 mm wide cooker hood in a 600 mm wide wall unit, insert the two rear scr ews at this stage. If the wall unit has side sections, you will also need to secur e it to the base on either side.
Installation 48 When fitting a 900 mm wide cooker hood into a 900 mm wide housing unit without side base supports, the retaining br ackets supplied are used t o align the cooker hood and provide additional support. The retaining brack ets are secured t o the back panel of the wall unit.
Installation 49 The covers for the brack ets are designed for 16 mm and 19 mm thick unit sides. T urn the covers so that they are in the appr opriate position and fit them onto the br ackets. Secure the spacer strip t o the bottom of the wall unit as well.
Installation 50 T ake the grease filt ers out and remove any pr otective foil. Replace the grease filt ers. Exhaust socket Insert the non-return flap, if r equired. Make sure that it opens easily and closes again by itself. dai2699 Attach the exhaust ducting, e.
Installation 51 Setting up for recirculation mode If site conditions ar e not suitable for the cooker hood to be used with air extr action, the appliance must be set up for recir culation. A conversion kit, available through your dealer of fr om Miele is requir ed for operating the cooker hood in recir culation mode.
Electrical connection 52 All electrical work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with curr ent national and local safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous, for which the manufacturer cannot be held liable.
Connection for air e xtraction 53 If the cooker hood is used at the same time as a heating appliance that relies on o xygen from the same room, ther e is a risk in certain circumstances of t oxic fumes building up. It is essential that the "Warning and Safety" instructions are observed.
Connection for air e xtraction 54 Condensate trap In addition to insulating the e xhaust ducting, we recommend that a suitable condensate tr ap is also installed to collect and evaporat e any condensate which may occur . Condensate tr aps for 125 mm or 150 mm ducting are available as optional accessories.
Connection for air e xtraction 55 Recirculation mode The silencer needs to be positioned between the exhaust socket and the directional unit . Ensur e there is adequate space for fitting it.
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 56 Installing the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick In order t o use the Con@ctivity 2.0 function, the hob must first be fitted with the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick. Please read the separ ate installation instructions supplied with the Con@ctivity 2.
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 57 Activating the hob While the cooker hood is searching for a signal, start activating the hob. More information about this can be found in the Operating instructions for the hob.
Signing on/off the remote contr ol 58 If the connection has been lost between the remot e control and the cooker hood, they must be signed on again. T o do this, the remot e control function on the cooker hood and the remot e control must be signed off first of all.
Signing on/off the remote contr ol 59 Confirm the signing off procedur e by pressing the run-on option contr ol 5 15 on the cooker hood. All indicators will go out. Please bear in mind that disabling the signal will also disable any Con@ctivity 2.
