W arning and Safety instructions 9 The electrical safety of this washing machine can only be guar an‐ teed when corr ectly earthed. It is essential that this standard safety r equirement is met. If in any doubt, please have the wiring system of the building t ested by a qualified electrician.
W arning and Safety instructions 10 The machine must be isolated fr om the electricity supply when cleaning and maintaining the machine and in the event of a fault. The machine must only be connected t o the on-site water supply using a new hose kit.
W arning and Safety instructions 11 Correct use Do not install the washing machine in a room wher e there is a risk of frost. F ro zen hoses may burst or split. The reliability of the elec‐ tronic contr ol unit may be impaired at t emperatur es below freezing point.
W arning and Safety instructions 12 T ake care when opening the drum door after using the st eam function. Danger of burning due to escaping st eam and the high temper ature of the surface of the drum as well as the porthole glass. Stand back away fr om the machine and wait until the steam has dis‐ sipated.
W arning and Safety instructions 13 Colour run and dye removers contain sulphur compounds which can cause damage such as corrosion. Do not use these pr oducts in this machine. If deter gent comes into contact with the eyes, rinse them thor‐ oughly with lukewarm water immediat ely .

Before using for the first time 17 Before using the machine for the first time ensure that it is corr ectly in‐ stalled and connected. See "Installa‐ tion and connection". Also check that the drain filt ers are secur ely tightened to pr event the risk of water leaks during use.
Before using for the first time 18 This washing machine has undergone a complete functional test at the fac‐ tory and there will be some r esidual water in the drum fr om this process. F or safety reasons, spinning is not pos‐ sible until the machine has been pre‐ pared for using for the first time.
T winDos 19 The washing machine has an integr ated deter gent dispensing unit. The deter gent dispensing unit can be used with 1. the Miele 2 Phase System or 2. any other liquid detergent and/or fab‐ ric conditioner The Miele 2 Phase System The Miele 2 Phase System uses a base deter gent (UltraPhase 1) and a deter‐ gent enhancer (UltraPhase 2).
T winDos 20 Inserting cartridges/containers Keep filled containers or car‐ tridges out of the reach of childr en. Observe the instructions for use and warning instructions given by the de‐ ter gent manufacturer . Pr ess the T winDos container access panel.
T winDos 21 Push the Ultr aPhase 1 cartridge into Compartment 1 until it locks into po‐ sition. Remove container 2 and push the UltraPhase 2 cartridge into Com‐ partment 2 until it locks into position. Keep the containers in a safe place. They can be used for other types of deter gent.
T winDos 22 Open the Settings menu Y ou have to ent er the type of deter‐ gent being used in the Settings menu. Switch on the washing machine and wait until the standard display lights up.

T winDos 24 Running the first progr amme The T winDos system needs to be primed before you can use the wash‐ ing machine. T o do this you must run a wash pro‐ gramme without laun dr y . Open the stopcock. T urn the progr amme selector to Cot‐ tons .
W ashing environmentally and economically 25 Energy and water consumption – Wat er consumption and energy us‐ age are det ermined by the size of the load. T o make the most of your machine, load the maximum dry load for the progr amme you are using.
W ashing environmentally and economically 26 EcoF eedback Y ou can call up information about the energy and wat er consumption of your washing machine with the EcoF eed‐ back sensor . The following information will appear in the display: – an estimate of the consumption be‐ fore the pr ogramme begins.
1. Pr epare the laundry 27 Empty all pockets. F oreign objects (e.g. nails, coins, paper clips, etc.) can cause damage to garments and to components in the machine. Sort the laundry Sort the laundry by colour and by care label. Most garments have a t ex‐ tile care label in the collar or side seam.
2. Select a progr amme 28 Switch on the washing ma‐ chine Pr ess the button. Pr ogramme selection A. Selecting a programme via the programme select or: T urn the progr amme selector to the requir ed progr amme. The load for the progr amme selected will appear in the display .
3. L oad the washing machine 29 Open the door T ake hold of the door and pull it open. Unfold the laundry and load loosely into the drum. Mixing both large and small it ems gives better wash r esults and also helps distribute the load evenly during spinning.
4. Select progr amme settings 30 Degree of soiling Lightly soiled No visible dirt or stains. P ossibly slight body odour . Normally soiled Visibly dirty and/or just a few slight stains.
4. Select progr amme settings 31 Selecting a spin speed Y ou can alter the pr e-set spin speed of a wash progr amme. Pr ess the Spin speed button. 5. Add detergent 32 There ar e several options for adding de‐ ter gent. T winDos Depending on which agents have been added in Compartments 1 and 2: Miele 2 Phase System The optimum amount of UltraPhase1 and UltraPhase2 will be dispensed au‐ tomatically accor ding to the colour mix of the load.
5. Add detergent 33 Detergent dispenser dr awer T oo little deter gent results in: – Laundry not getting properly clean and with time it may become grey and hard t o the touch. – Greasy particles clinging to laundry . – Limescale deposits on the heater ele‐ ments.
5. Add detergent 34 CapDosing Three differ ent types of capsule are available: = F abric care (e.g. fabric condi‐ tioner , proofing agent) = Additives (e.g. deter gent en‐ hancers) = Deter gent (for the main wash only) Each capsule contains the correct amount for one wash cycle.
5. Add detergent 35 Close the lid and press it firmly shut. Close the deter gent dispenser draw‐ er . The capsule is opened by the act of inserting it in the detergent dispenser drawer . The contents can run out of the capsule if you then remove it from the dr awer before it is used.
6. Start the progr amme - the end of a programme 36 Start the progr amme Pr ess the flashing Start/Stop butt on. The door will lock (the will appear in the display to show this) and the pr o‐ gramme will start. If a delay start time has been selected, then this will count down in the display .

Spinning 38 T o omit the final spin (Rinse hold) Use the Spin speed button to select the setting (Rinse hold). The laun‐ dry is not spun after the final rinse and remains in the final rinse wat er . This helps prevent cr easing if the laundry is not going to be removed from the drum immediat ely after the end of the progr amme.
Delay start 39 With delay start you can choose when you want the progr amme to start. Y ou can delay the start of the progr amme from 15 minut es up to a maximum of 24 hours, allowing you to make use of night-time economy electricity rat es, for example.

Pr ogramme chart 43 Maintenance wash 75°C Empty With frequent washing at low t emperatures ther e is a danger of a build-up of bacteria in the washing machine. Cleaning the washing machine will significantly reduce bacteria, fungus and bio‐ film and prevent the build-up of unpleasant odours.

Detergent 56 F abric conditioner and liquid starch at the end of the pro‐ gramme Y ou can dispense fabric conditioner ei‐ ther by using automatic dispensing or via the deter gent dispenser compart‐ ment. Automatic dispensing One of the automatic dispensing con‐ tainers must be filled with fabric condi‐ tioner .
Detergent 57 Colour run and dye removers/dyes Do not use colour run or dye re‐ movers in this washing machine. They can cause corrosion in the ma‐ chine.
Cleaning and care 58 Cleaning the drum (Hygiene info) Washing at low t emperatures and/or using liquid deter gent can cause bacte‐ ria and unpleasant odours to build up in the washing machine. Use the Mainte‐ nance wash progr amme to clean the machine.
