36 Getting started Unlocking Position 0 Before you press the KEYLESS-GO start/stop button, th e vehicle’s on-board electronics have status 0 (as with SmartKey removed). Position 1 왘 Press KEYLESS-GO start/stop button once. This supplies power for some electrical consumers, such as seat adjustment.
37 Getting started Adjusting 왔 Adjusting Seats Wa r n i n g ! G All seat, head restraint, steering wheel, and rear view mirror adjustments, as well as fas- tening of seat belts, must be done before the vehicle is put into motion. Wa r n i n g ! G Do not adjust the driver’s seat while driving.

49 Getting started Driving Starting with KEYLESS-GO* You can start your vehicle without the SmartKey in the starter switch using the KEYLESS-GO start/stop button on the gear selector lever.
50 Getting started Driving Starting difficulties If the engine does not start as described, carry out the following steps: 왘 If you are starting the engine with the SmartKey: Turn SmartKey in starter switch to position 0 and repeat starting procedure.

The gear selector lever lock i s released. 왘 Move gear selector lever in position D or R . 왘 Release the brake pedal. 왘 Carefully depress the accelerator pedal. Once the vehicle is in motion, the automatic central locking system engages and the locking knobs drop down.

Switching on headlamps Low beam headlamps The exterior lamp switch is located on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel. 56 Getting started Driving Problems while driving The engine runs erratically and misfires 앫 An ignition cable may be damaged. 앫 The engine electronics may not be op- erating properly. 앫 Unburned gasoline may have entered the catalytic converter and damaged it.

The distance from the center of the driver’s breast- bone to the center of the air bag cover on the steering wheel must be at leas t 10 in (25 cm) or mo re.
65 Safety an d Security Occupant safety serious injuries or death should the side air bag be activated. (2) Always sit nearly up right, properly use the seat belts and use an appropriately sized infant or chil d restraint system f or all children 12 years old or under.
