1 Dear Customer, Ple ase read this manual thoroughly before op era tin g the unit to become more familiar with it and obtain the performance that will bring you continued enjoyment for many years.
Dear Customer: Selecting fine audio equipment such as the unit you’ve just purchased is only the start of your musical enjoyment. Now it’s time to consider how you can maximize the fun and excitement your equipment offers.
3 B efore using the unit, be sure to read all operating instructions carefully. Please note that these are general precautions and may not p ertain to your unit. For example, this unit may not have the capability t o be connected to an outdoor antenna.
4 PREP ARA TION FOR USE SPEAKER CONNECTION Locate the Speaker Jacks on the rear of the unit and connect the right speaker to the Right (R) Speaker jack and the left speaker to the Left (L) Speaker jack. CAUTION: Only connect the speakers which are supplied with the unit.
5 PREP ARA TION FOR USE (CONTINUED) CONNECTING AN EXTERNAL UNIT NOTES: • Connecting the unit to an external audio source will allow you to broadcast the external unit’s sound through this unit’s speakers. • When connecting the external unit, refer to the owner’s manual of the external unit, as well as this manual.

8 OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS SETTING THE CLOCK While the unit is off (the clock appears in the display), press the STOP ( ■ )/TIME SET/ POWER OFF button; the hour digit(s) will blink in the display. 1 1 When the hour is set, press the STOP ( ■ )/TIME SET/POWER OFF button again; the minute digits will blink in the display.
9 OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) Press the RADIO AM/FM/ POWER ON button to turn the unit on; "AM" or "FM" and the frequency will appear in the display.
10 OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) Press the RADIO AM/FM/ POWER ON button to turn the unit on; "AM" or "FM" and the frequency will appear in the display. 1 Press the PROGRAM/MEMORY button 1 ; the preset number will blink in the display.
11 Press the PLAY/PAUSE ( ®p )/ POWER ON button to turn the unit on; the display will light brightly. NOTE: If a CD disc is inserted, the CD will start playing automatically.
12 OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) During playback, depress and hold either the TIME/TUNING/ SKIP/SEARCH n or o button to move the player forward or backward within a track to locate a specific musical passage. The player will move forward or backward at high speed as long as the button is depressed.
13 To repeat a single track, press the REPEAT/CLOCK button ❶ once while in the Play mode; “REPEAT 1” will appear in the display. Press the TIME/ TUNING/SKIP/ SEARCH n 2 or o 3 button to select the specific track that you wish to repeat. The specific track you selected will be repeated continuously.
14 Press either the TIME/ TUNING/ SKIP/SEARCH o 1 or n 2 button to select the next track you wish to progr am. When the desired track numbe r appears in the display, pre ss the PROGRAM/MEMORY button 3 again. 2 1 3 4 Repeat step 5 until you have programmed up to 20 track numbers into the CD Program Memory.
15 OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) With the power off, press the REPEAT/CLOCK button 1 and then press the STOP ( ■ )/TIME SET/ POWER OFF button 2 within 5 seconds to enter the Timer ON setting mode; “TIMER” will appear and the hour will blink on the display.
16 Press the SLEEP button a second time to set the unit to turn off after 60 minutes. Each additional press with decrease the sleep time (90, 60, 45, 30, 15, OFF). Press the SLEEP button repeatedly until “OFF” appears in the display to deactivate the Sleep feature.
C aring for Compact Discs • Treat the compact disc carefully. Handle the compact disc only by its edges. Never allow your fingers to come in contact with the shiny, unprinted side of the compact disc. • Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers, etc.
