6 Bef ore Using Y our Thermal Coffeemaker W ARNING: T o reduce r isk of fire or electric shock, do not immerse Cord, Plug or appliance in water or an y other liquid. 1. Bef ore prepar ing coffee in y our new coff eemaker , thoroughly clean the Caraf e, Caraf e Lid and Remov able Filter Bask et in warm, soapy w ater .
7 4. Close the Hinged Filter Lid. 5. Raise the W ater Reser v oir Cover . Fill the Thermal Caraf e with cold water and pour it into the W ater Reser voir to the desired le vel. No less than two cups are recommended. Important: Alwa ys use fresh, cool water in y our appliance.
8 10. Switch coff eemaker to OFF since unit is not in use . 11 . T o brew another Car afe of coff ee, turn unit OFF and wait 10 min- utes to allow heating element to cool.
9 Presetting The Brewing Cyc le T o preset your Coff eemaker to begin bre wing at a later time, first f ol- low steps 1-3 in the Bre wing Instr uctions section. Check to mak e sure that the clock is set to the correct time . If it is not, follo w the abov e instructions to set the clock.
10 User Maintenance Instructions This appliance requires little maintenance. It contains no user- ser viceable par ts. An y ser vicing requiring disassembly other than cleaning must be perf or med b y a qualified appliance repair technician. W ARNING: Unplug from w all outlet bef ore cleaning.
11 7. At the end of the brew cycle , press the P o wer Select Button to OFF . Discard water in the Caraf e. Remo ve used filter and wash the Caraf e and Remov able Filter Bask et in war m, soap y water . Rinse and Dr y . 8. When Coff eemaker has cooled, wipe e xterior with a dr y cloth.
