3 Using this handbook This handbook has been designed to give y ou all the information you need to install, connect, set up and use the Arcam A32 integrated amplifier or the P35 po wer amplif ier . The A32 amplifier is described first, then the P35. The CR-389 remote control handset supplied with the A32 integr ated amplifier is also described.
4 Safety guidelines SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS This product is designed and manufactured to meet strict quality and safety standards. Howev er , you should be a ware of the following installation and operation precautions: 1.
5 POSITIONING THE UNIT Place your amplif ier on a level, firm surface . A void placing the unit in direct sunlight or near sources of heat or damp. Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not place the unit in an enclosed space such as a bookcase or cabinet as both of these will impede air flow through the v entilation slots.
6 CONNECTING T O A PO WER SUPPL Y WRONG PLUG? Check that the plug supplied with the unit fits y our supply and that your mains supply v oltage agrees with the voltage setting (115V or 230V) indicated on the rear panel of the unit 2 before plugging in.
7 Using y our A32 integrated ampli fi er FR ONT P ANEL CONTR OLS This section describes how to oper ate your amplif ier . If your amplif ier has not been installed for you, you should first read the section ‘ Installation: A32 ’ on page 5. PO WER (and power indicator light) bm Switches the unit on and off.
8 RECORDING With the Arcam A32 it is possible to listen to and record from one source , or to listen to one source while recording another . Both sets of tape sockets are identical in sensitivity and suitable f or use with almost any type of recorder (cassette, CDR, MD , VCR, reel-to- reel, etc .

10 Using the r emote contr ol NO TE Remember to install the two AAA batter ies supplied before tr ying to use your remote control. Do not place anything in front of the FMJ badge on the top left of the CD play er (where the IR receiver is located), or the remote control may not wor k.
11 Installation: P35 po wer ampli fi er CONNECTING T O O THER EQUIPMENT Follow the installation instructions for the integr ated amplifier on pages 4 – 6. AUDIO IN – Connect this input to the output sockets of y our pre- amplifier or the PRE OUT sock ets of an integrated amplifier .
12 Using y our P35 po w er ampli fi er PO WER (AND PO WER INDICA T OR LIGHT) Switches the unit on and off. The light indicates the status of the amplifier . When you switch y our amplifier on, the light glows amber f or a few seconds, dur ing which time the speaker s are disconnected.
13 Bi-wiring and bi-amping loudspeak ers BEFORE Y OU ST AR T W ARNING : Do not make any connections to y our amplifier while it is switched on or connected to the mains supply .
