22 CHAP. 5 Set Up Set time and date of DVR system which is very important for search wi th time and date of the e vent. Time and date se t by manuf a cturer is diff ere nt from local time of user, and use r must set time and date exactly in the first operation.

31 CHAP. 6 Net work Setup 6-1. DVR Network Configur ation Now that you are familiar with t he equipment and should be able to i dentify a router from a modem and a Cat5 network cable from a telephone cable, we will proceed to determine the network scenario that fits your current netwo rk.

34 CHAP. 6 Net work Setup REMOTELY : To access the DVR re motely, open the remote view ing software and click on the “Settings ” button. As far as TCP/IP connectivity is conce rned only 4 entrie s need to be made : For CASE B, you have receiv e d a static IP from y o ur Internet provider.
35 CHAP. 6 Net work Setup REMOTELY : To access the DVR remote ly, that is from outside you r local network, fo llow the above directions for access ing locally, except for the IP address. For CASE C, you have received a dynamic or P P P oE IP from your Interne t provider.

37 CHAP. 6 Net work Setup Configure the DVR as foll ows : For this application you can still use the DV R for rem o te access, yet you will have to verify the IP address within the DVR on a continuous basis to ensu re the IP address hasn’t changed. This setup will not work with most Dynamic DSLDKDKD providers.
