6 Chapter 1: Overview of this DVR OVERVIEW OF THIS DVR This DVR is a Digital Security System designed to re cord/retrieve u p to 4 channels of video at the same time. It adopts a digital image compression technolo gy to compress the input channel video stream s, and uses a hard disk to record the com pressed video stream.
7 Use the SELECT button to confirm a menu option or value in a menu field. ALL-CH1- CH2-CH3-CH4 This SEL button allows you to select camera im ages in live recordi ng or playback mode. The default display setting of the DVR is set to “ALL” wh ich display s all 4 channels of video at the same time.
8 DVR BACK P ANEL For more details on installation, refer to Chapter 5 - Hardware In stallation. POWER ON/OFF SWITCH Use this button to turn on or off the DVR. VIDEO OUT Connect the DVR to a TV or monitor using a BNC c able. You can conne ct two monitors or TVs to the DVR unit.
9 The following features are found on this DVR LAN Connect the DVR to your computer or routing dev ice such as a DSL modem or hub using a LAN cable for remote viewing. LAN Port The LAN (RJ-45) jack is used to conne ct the DVR to a Local Area Network. This allows you to control the DVR for remote viewing via the internet.

11 Chapter 4: Getting S t arted OVERVIEW OF SET UP PROCEDURES Below is an overvie w of the installation steps required get your DVR unit working. Each step is explained in detail in Chapter 5 - Hardware Installation. (1) Install a hard disk driv e. (2) Connect the DVR to a TV set or monitor.
12 Chapter 5: Hardware Installation HARD DISK DRIVE INSTALLATION Check to verify the hard drive’s jumper setting. Important: The jumper setting must be set to "master". Check the jumper setting diagram on your hard driv e or consult your hard drive manual for instructions.
13 CONNECTING THE DV R TO YOU R TV SET OR MO NITOR Video Input/Output Connection (For TV / monitor scree n display) To display the DVR’s picture, the video output signal need to be transferred to your TV set or monitor. Any TV set that has a VIDEO INPUT terminal is su itable for displaying the picture.
14 For cameras that have a built-in microphone If you would like to install cameras that have a built-in microphone, follow the diag ram below for installation. Connection Type 1 – For camera s that have a video/audio splitter cabl e. Connection Type 2 – For camera s that have video/audio termi nals on the rear panel of the camera body.
15 SENSOR/ MOTION DETECTOR INSTALLATION You can connect up to 4 motion se nsors (not in cluded in the DVR package) to the DVR. There are two steps to install sensors. 1. Connect the sensor signal lines to the signal input terminal. 2. Connect the sensor power lines to the appro priate power source.
16 Note: Contact an authori zed dealer for information ab out buying the appropriate alarm for you r needs and for information concerning proper i nstallation procedures. LAN-DVR CONNECTION You can connect your DVR to a local are a network or to the internet.
17 POWER CONNECTION Connect the power adapter to the power adapter ja ck located at the rear panel of the DVR unit. Now, the DVR is ready to run! Turn on t he power bu tton at the rear side of the DVR. The next chapter will explain the about the DVR menu and how to opera te your DVR.
18 Chapter 6: DVR Menu MAIN MENU In order to select cameras f or recording, set recodi ng quality, schedule re cording times and to set other operation parameters, you will need to access the DVR’s menu. To access the DVR’s main menu, pres s the menu button on the DVR’s front panel.
19 RECORD SELECT To select cameras for recording, navig ate to RECORD SELECT. Then, use the buttons on the DVR’s front panel to select a camera for recording. The higher the record frame rate, the more natural motion will be displayed on the screen for playback.
21 Press the up or down button on the DVR’s front panel to move the arrow V to the desired time selection. Then press the select button to change between continuou s re cording (T), sensor recording (S) and no recording (--) for the selected time slot.

24 To navigate and to make the desired sel ections use the up down and select buttons on the front panel of the DVR unit. OVERWRITE ENABLED: If you choose YES (default setting), re cording continues and over writes previous recording when hard disk drive space is fu ll.

27 Important! : : The MAC ADDRESS is issued by the manufac turer and should be on a label located on the network board in your DVR. Keep th is num ber in a safe place for future reference. If you have a battery failure, replace the on-boar d backup battery and re-i nput the MAC ADDRESS.

31 RECORD VIEW CONTROL When you have finished entering all of the settings in the DVR me nu and the record button is pressed, the recording process st arts im mediately. In the example below, the recording cha nnel indicators n next to CH1 and CH2 indicate that those chann els have been selected to record.
32 Chapter 7: Trouble Shooting Guide TROUBLE SHOOTING 1. What kind of camera should I buy for this DVR ? Any BNC or RCA interface indoor/outdoor/infrare d camera will work with the DVR. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a color or black/white camera.

39 1. Introduction Welcome to Remote DVR Clie nt 2.5 Software! This Softwar e allows you to access your DVR from a remote location to view live and recorded video. If you setup audio r ecording, you can also receive audio data f rom the DVR. You can capture (record) the video and audio data fr om the DVR, an d play the stored stream.

45 iv. DV R Control - View Mode The view mode is a default and the indicato r shows the current DVR operationa l state, view. Record Mode When you click “REC” button, the remote DV R starts recor ding video on its hard driv e. To stop r ecording, pr ess the stop button.
46 - Play Mode To review the recorded video, press “PLAY” butto n. Then, the “DVR play ” control panel would be pop-up. You can start playing while either select the sta rt time or select the event you want to play.
47 A. Timed Play Set the playback st arting point (year/d ate/hour/min/sec ) in this box and click “Start Timed Play” button for repla y. If there are two hard disk drives in stalled in DVR, you can choose one ha rd drive for the pl ayback starting point to see the recorded event.
48 - FF (Fast Forward) M ode Once the DVR is in PLAY mode, the FF button woul d be enabled. If you w ant to play faster , press FF button. Then, you would see “PLAY FF” on the DVR state indi cator. Also, you would se e “FF1” on the screen. There are thr ee levels of FF speed 1 ; i.
49 - REW (Rewind) Mode While playing, fast forward playing or pause, you can press REW( Rewind) button if you want play backward. Then, you would se e “PLAY REW” on the DVR stat e indi cator. Also, you woul d see “REW” on the screen. - PAUSE Mode If you want to see still image , you can press PAUSE button to do it.
50 - Capture & Play Using Capture & Play, you can record r eal-time event on hard d isk drive of your PC. A. Record events on your PC hard disk driv e. When you click “REC” button, it will start to record the incoming video on your PC hard disk.
51 The file name its elf contai ns the information about the year_da te_hour_ min_sec , which indicate the time of reco rding. So you can easily chec k the record ing time informat ion only by file name. If you want to playback r ecorded event, select the file on th e list and click “ Open”.
52 E. Pause To see still image, pre ss PAUSE button to stop the playback f or a while. - Frame Rate There are 30 different fra mes rate setti ngs that you can choo se. Maximum frames r ate is 30 frames per seconds. Th e minimum is 1 fram e per second.
53 B. DVR Management - DVR Record mod e It shows the current DVR Record mode (Each/Quad) on connection . You can’t make any change in record mode on your PC with Remote DVR Client.
54 - Video Quality There are three vi deo quality mode: High, Normal, L ow. The higher the video qua lity, the clearer th e image on the scre en. The data stream size will be smaller as you lower the video qualit y. - Record Frame Rate There are nine different Reco rd Frame Rates (1 ,2,3,4,5,7,10,15,3 0) settings that you can choose.
55 - Alarm On Duration If the alarming devic e is attached to DVR, this optio n sets al arm duration. It controls h ow many seconds the alarm goes on since it goes off. There are 35 different time settings on the alarming dur ation. You can also ma ke the alarm off or on ceaselessl y.
56 - DVR Speaker Enable This option enables/disa bles the speak er of the DVR (Not the audio output of the client). If you enabled the DVR audi o recoding and the spe aker is enabled, you would be able to hear aud io sound from the DVR. - Input Channels Select the camera that sho uld be on for moni toring.
