8 OPERA TION HO W T O USE Y OUR TILLER Know ho w to operate all controls bef ore adding fuel and oil or attempting to star t engine. ST OPPING (See Fig. 9) TINES AND DRIVE • Release drive control bar to stop mov ement. • Mov e shift le v er to “N” (neutral) position.
9 TURNING • Release the drive control bar . • Mov e throttle control to “SLO W” position. • Place shift lev er indicator in “F” (f orw ard) position.
10 OPERA TION TILLING HINTS CA UTION: Until you are accustomed to handling your tiller , start actual fi eld use with throttle in slo w position (mid-way between “F AST” and “IDLE”). • Tilling is digging into , turning over , and breaking up pack ed soil bef ore planting.

12 MAINTENANCE GENERAL RECOMMEND A TIONS The warranty on this tiller does not co v er items that hav e been subjected to operator ab use or negligence. T o receive full value from the w arranty , the operator m ust main tain tiller as instructed in this manual.

14 MUFFLER Do not operate tiller without muffl er . Do not tamper with e xhaust system. Damaged muffl ers or spark arresters could create a fi re hazard. Inspect pe ri odi cally and re place if nec es sar y . If y our engine is equipped with a spark arrester screen assembly , re mov e e v er y 50 hours f or cleaning and inspection.
15 tire_3 TILLER T O ADJUST HANDLE HEIGHT (See Fig. 22) Select handle height best suited f or your tilling conditions . Handle height will be diff erent when tiller digs into soil. • First loosen handle lock le v er . • Handle can be positioned at different settings between “HIGH” and “LO W” positions .

19 ST ORA GE ENGINE OIL Drain oil (with engine warm) and replace with clean oil. (See “ENGINE” in the Maintenance section of this man ual). CYLINDER(S) • Remov e spark plug. • P our 1 ounce (29 ml) of oil through spark plug hole into cylinder .
20 Will not start 1. Out of fuel. 1. Fill fuel tank. 2. Engine not “CHOKED” properly . 2. See “T O ST ART ENGINE” in Oper ation section. 3. Engine fl ooded. 3. W ait sev eral min utes before attempting to start. 4. Dirty air cleaner . 4. Clean or replace air cleaner car tridge.
