6 Hooking Up the TV/VCR ANT. ANT. IN OUT ANT. ANT. Connect an RF coaxial cable (75-ohm, not supplied) to the OUT Jack on the Cable Box/Satellite Receiv er and to the ANT(enna) Jack on the TV/VCR. Connect a Cable TV signal or an antenna to the ANT(enna) Jack.

Playing a Videotape 9 • If the tape you want to play is already in the TV/VCR, turn on the TV/VCR power , then press PLA Y/ ▲ . • Playback features and options are on pages 28-31. • When you play an S-VHS format tape , you cannot get the high resolution that would be avail- able on an S-VHS VCR.
10 Recor ding • Y ou cannot recor d one c hannel while watching another . • Recor ding options are on pages 22-27. • If you pause a r ecording for mor e than five minutes, the TV/VCR will resume recor ding automatically .

14 Setting TV Channels • The TV/VCR distinguishes between standard TV channels and Cable TV c hannels . • If you activate A UT O CH PRO- GRAMMING when no antenna or Cable TV signal is connected to the TV/VCR ’ s ANT(enna) jack, NO TV SIGN ALS will appear on the display after completion of channel scanning.
Adding/Deleting Channels 15 The channels you no longer r eceive or seldom watch can be deleted from the memory . Or , you can add ne w channels into the memor y without ha ving to reset all the channels. 1 Press MENU . Press PLA Y/ ▲ or ST OP/ ▼ to select CHANNEL SET UP .
16 Setting the Clock 1 Press MENU . Press PLA Y/ ▲ or ST OP/ ▼ to select SETTING CLOCK, then press F .FWD/ B . 2 With A UT O CLOCK selected, press F .FWD/ B or REW/ s repeatedl y until ON appears beside AUT O CLOCK. • If the TV/VCR is connected to a Cable Box, select the local PBS station on the Cable Box.

20 Daylight-Savings Time When Da ylight-Sa vings Time (D .S.T .) is ON, the TV/VCR clock will automatically mov e forward one hour on the first Sunda y in April and mov e back one hour on the last Sunda y in October . T o turn Daylight-Sa vings Time ON or OFF , follow the steps below .

24 Timer Recor ding (cont ’ d) Extending a Timer Recording T o make a Timer Recording start and end later than originally scheduled, follow these steps. 1 With the TV/VCR power on, pr ess MENU . Press PLA Y/ ▲ or ST OP/ ▼ to select TIMER PR OGRAMMING.
Timer Recor ding Auto Return 25 T urning on A UT O RETURN sets the TV/VCR to rewind the tape automatically to the beginning of the last timer r ecording. 1 Press MENU . Press PLA Y/ ▲ or ST OP/ ▼ to select USER ’ S SET UP . Then, press F .FWD/ B .
26 Rerecor ding (T ape Duplication) • Unauthorized r ecording of copy- righted television pro grams, video tapes , or other materials may infringe on the rights of copyr ight owners and violate copyright laws . • Diff erent brands of equipment may operate diff erently .
One-T ouch Recor ding 27 A One-T ouch Recording (O TR) is an immediate timed recor ding from 30 min utes to eight hours long. ● This function cannot be done from the r emote control. ● Recording starts immediately when y ou press REC/O TR. Befor e you begin, mak e sure .
28 Playback Options • Still mode will automatically switch to Stop mode after five minutes to protect the TV/VCR and the tape from damag e . • SP/LP/SLP means this feature will work with tape segments recor d- ed in Standard Play , Long Play, or Super Long Play .
Repeat Play 29 • Once you set Repeat Play , it stays in effect e ven after you turn off the TV/VCR. Y ou must set it to OFF to disable it again. • If RENT AL is ON, the RENT AL PLA Y B message has priority when you star t playbac k. (REPEA T PLA Y B will not appear when you star t playbac k.

Closed Caption 35 Follow the steps belo w to select closed captions for TV pr o- gramming. Not all TV programs and commer cials ha ve closed captions or all types of closed captions (second language, half-screen text, etc.). If closed captioning is not br oadcast, you cannot r eceive it.

Sleep Timer 37 Use the Sleep Timer to program the TV/VCR to shut itself off in a certain amount of time . 1 Press SLEEP/W AKE UP until SLEEP TIMER appears. 2 Press PLA Y/ ▲ , ST OP/ ▼ , F .FWD/ B or REW/ s to choose an amount of time. Y ou ma y choose 30 minutes, one hour , an hour and a half, or two hours.
38 Automatic Oper ation Featur es Automatic Pla yback When you put a ta pe in the TV/VCR, the power will come on automatically . If the tape ’ s recor d tab is missing, pla yback will begin. If a timer recor ding is set, the pow er will not come on automatically when y ou inser t a tape with the recor d tab intact.
