2 I-S71 1.2 Choosing a Computer Chassis • Choose a chassi s big enough to ins tall this mo therboard. • As some features for th is mo therboard are implemented by cabling connectors o n the motherboard to in dicators and switches or buttons on th e chassis, make sure your chass is supports all the features required.
I-S71 3 1.4 Checking Jumper Settings For a 2-pin jumper, plug t he jumper cap on both pins will make it C L O S E ( S H O R T ) . R e m o v e t h e j u m p e r c a p , o r p l u g i t o n e i t h e r p i n (reserved for future use) will leave it at OPEN position.
4 I-S71 To renew the backup battery: 1. Power off the system and disconnect with AC power source. 2. Remove the exhausted battery. 3. Insert a new CR2032 or equivalent batt ery. Pay attention to its polarity. The “ +” side is it s positive polarity.
I-S71 5 1.5.2 Front Panel Switches and Indicators Headers This header is used for connect ing switches and LED indicators on the chassis front panel. Watch the power LED pin posi tion and orientation. The mark “+” align to the pin in the figure belo w stands for positive polari ty for the LED connectio n.
6 I-S71 1.6 Installing Hardware ※ DO NOT sc ratch the motherboard when installing hard ware. An accidental scratch of a tiny surfa ce-mount component may seriously damage the motherboard. ※ In order to protect the contact pins, please pay attention to these notices: 1.
I-S71 7 5. Use your left hand to hold the load plate, and use your right thumb to peel the cap off. ※ The cap plays an important role in protecting contact pins. In order to prevent bent pin, PUT ON the cap after operation or testing. 6. Lower the plate onto the CPU package.
