P o wer Switch The po wer s witch is a spring-loaded soft switch for turning the po wer to the Server on and of f.
Instant GigaCD Server Copy Button This button is pressed to cop y a CD to the hard disk, thus creating a virtual CD image. While cop ying, you ma y experience dif f iculty using the Server’ s other features and should wait until the Server has completed cop ying the image.
Instant GigaCD Server 7 Connecting The EtherFast Instant GigaCD Ser ver to Y our Network 1. Connect a Netw ork Ca ble from the RJ-45 por t in the back of the Ser ver to your Hub or Switch to w hich the Ser ver will be connected. The Ser ver will auto-sense a 10BaseT or 100BaseTX connection at full or half duplex.

TCP/IP: DHCP Client - Obtain IP Address Y ou can enable this setting, if there is a DHCP or Automatically Bootp server connected to your LAN , to obtain the Server’ s IP Address. Using the EtherFast Instant GigaCD Ser ver 1. Start up the Instant GigaCD Manager Utility . It will automaticall y scan the netw ork for the Ser ver and then the main screen will appear . 2. In the left panel, you will see a displa y of the Servers cur rently connected to your netw ork.

Instant GigaCD Server TCP/IP This data was pro vided within the Setup Utility and can be adjusted here. • DHCP Client A DHCP (Dynamic Host Conf iguration Protocol) Server pro vides an IP Address to PCs and other devices on the netw ork. This should be selected if you ha ve a DHCP Server on your Netw ork.
Instant GigaCD Server Micr osoft Input information under this tab to conf igure for Microsoft netw orking. • W or kgr oup This should match the name of your W orkgroup. Users in other w orkg roups will still be able to use the Instant GigaCD Server .
Instant GigaCD Server Upgrade This allo ws you to upgrade the Instant GigaCD Ser ver’ s f irmware. Remember that the Server is una v ailable during upgrade process and that all connections are lost, including the one used to start the Upg rade. The upg rade procedure ma y take up to ten minutes.
Instant GigaCD Server • Default Serv er Name This is the name gi ven to the Server b y the factor y . • Serv er Name This is the name gi ven to the Server b y the user or , if one has not been selected b y the user , it is identical to the Def ault Server Name.
Instant GigaCD Server 25 24 Use Compression If this is selected , then the CD image f ile is more com- pressed and will occup y less space on the hard disk. Ho we ver , selecting Use Compression prevents File Sharing . File Sharing If this is selected , users within Y our Netw ork will be able to access the CD images on the Server .
Instant GigaCD Server 27 26 2. If a line such as “TCP/IP -> Netw ork Card” is not listed , then you need to install the TCP/IP protocol on your PC b y selecting Add - Protocol - Microsoft - TCP/IP - OK. 3. W ith the TCP/IP entry high- lighted , select Properties.
