9 1 G ETTING S T ARTED 1.1 I MPORT A NT S AFETY I NSTRUCTIONS SAFETY W ARNING: The safety of the product can be maint ained only if it is examined regularly for damage and wear . 1.2 S ETUP Read the entire Operation Manual before setting up the exercise bike. W HERE TO P LACE T HE E XERCISE B IKE Following all safety instructions in Section 1.1, move the bike to the location in which it will be used. See Section 7, titled Specifications , for the dimensions of the footprint.
11 Adjusting the seat on the recumbent bike: Lif t the spring-loaded adjusting handle located on the right side of the seat. Slide the seat forward or backward as necessary to the proper position and release the handle to complete engagement. Gently rock the seat forward and backward to ensure that it is locked into place.
2 T HE D ISPLA Y C ONSOLE 2.1 D ISPLA Y C ONSOLE O VERVIEW The computerized display console on the exercise bike allows the user to tailor a workout to personal fitness abilities and goals and to monitor progress. With this easy-to-use console the user can track fitness improvement from one workout to the next.
13 2.2 D ISPLA Y C ONSOLE D ESCRIPTIONS The functions for the keys and display windows on the exercise bike console are listed and described in this section. Se e Section 4, titled The Workouts , for detailed information on using the console to set up workouts.
2.3 T HE W A TER B OTTLE H OLDER AN D R EADING R ACK A water bottle holder is mounted on the monocolumn of the bike. A reading rack for supporting a book or magazine is located at the base of the upper p anel of the console.
3 T HE W ORKOUTS 3.1 W ORKOUT O VER VIEWS This section lists the exercise bikes pre-programmed workouts. For more detailed information, see Section 3.2, titled Setting Up and Using the Workouts . QUICK ST ART MANUAL MODE is the fastest way to begin exercising, and it bypasses the steps involved in selecting a specific workout program.
S ELECTING A D IFFICUL TY L EVEL After a duration is entered, the bottom DA T A WINDOW flashes a default difficulty level of 1, which is the easiest of the nine dif ficulty levels. Press ENTER to accept the default. Or , to change the level, use the ARROW keys.
17 U SING THE H EART R AT E Z ONE TO M AXIMIZE W ORKOUT B ENEFITS Research shows that keeping the heart rate within a certain range while exercising promotes muscular and cardiovascular conditioning for maximum health benefit s. This range is between 60 percent and 85 percent of a given user s theoretical maximum heart rate.
M ANUAL MANUAL is a workout in which the resistance level does not change automatically . When a MANUAL workout is in progress, the user can vary the resistance levels by pressing the UP and DOWN ARROW keys. P EAK PEAK is intended to burn fat by maintaining a constant level of resistance throughout the workout.
